The JISC funded RDMRose project (June 2012-May 2013) was a collaboration between the libraries of the University of Leeds, Sheffield and York, with the Information School at Sheffield to provide an Open Educational Resource for information professionals on Research Data Management. – The Library wants to create a web page or a set
of web pages with general guidance and some
links to external resources to help researchers do
RDM.

• Keep in mind the lifecycle of research data (e.g. the
DCC’s Curation Lifecycle model)
• Keep in mind the different incentives researchers
may have to engage with RDM, such as
– Direct benefits to researchers
– Public good obligations
– Compliance reasons
• Also keep in mind the many issues researchers
may have with RDM

5. Activity: Designing Library web pages
1. Define aim of website and user needs, and create initial website
structure and / or design:
– Where is the site going to be?
– How are you going to brand it?
– What information would have to go on the web pages and how
would it be structured?
– How much detail would you need?
2. Perform competitive analysis, and adapt initial design:
– Go and find if such a resource already exists, if only as an example you
could follow or avoid
– You could browse the web pages mentioned on the DCC website under
Resources > RDM guidance webpages
3. Present your website, providing a rationale, followed by a plenary
discussion
