Workshop recommendations
1. Recommendations of the workshop (17-11-2011)
I. Concerning CDM projects:
1. Moving quickly to register the proposed projects under the CDM before the end of 2012,
taking into account the most ranked priorities for the sake of registration, and the possibility
of registering some of these as a CDM project.
2. Based on the study performed by RCREEE, it should be determined the most ranked
projects under the CDM umbrella before 2012, including the support needed so that to
foster its registration on one hand, and to seek the possibility of potential contribution of
RCREEE to this regard on the other.
II. Concerning the NAMA
1. Starting the initial preparations for the NAMAs through:
a) Initiating a National Team (NT) comprising from all sectors in each country
including but not limited to policy makers.
b) This NT should assign the opportunities for the NAMAs from all sectors and to
prioritize it according to the national priorities including financing needs, allocated
budget needed, and opportunities of execution of these projects.
c) This NT should arrange and determine the needed tools to institutionalize NAMAS,
i.e. initiating a low carbon development strategy, national greenhouse gas inventory
and guarantee the sustainability of the greenhouse gas inventories.
2. To assure the rule of RCREEE as a regional platform for:
a) Exchange of information, experience and best practice,
b) Public awareness is an important role between the member states of RCREEE for
the sake of NAMA, and new mechanisms of carbon finance
.c) Capacity building, training with regard to NAMAs and other mechanisms is a
crucial issue
d) Providing technical assistance to its member states to implement NAMAs.

2. 3. RCREEE shall participate in the international negotiations to:
- Assure the necessity of simplifying NAMAS fulfillment procedures.
- Initiate suggestions, prospects and tools to implement NAMAs.
- To take into account the following issues which are:
a) To assure no obligations for the emission quantities intended to be reduced by
NAMA Projects.
b) Do not allow to impose on the developing countries the following issues:
- Any financial costs or
- Obligations or
- Buying New Technologies
c) If NAMA will be implemented, especially for the sake of purchasing new
technologies which are friendly to the environment?
4. A Progress meeting shall be organized in the coming 3 months to follow the
recommendations as outlined in the above.
