2. Randy Deutsch AIA LEED has 25 years of increasing levels of leadership & executive experience as a Senior Designer,
Design Manager and Design Director in architecture including over a dozen years with large top tier firms. His focus has been
globally and locally on large, complex projects including high-rises, mixed-use developments, retail, and master plans. He
has completed entertainment designs for Steve Wynn and the Rolling Stones and has exceedingly strong client relationship &
management experience.
In addition to design, Randy’s other passion is in business development, repeat clients, and rainmaking. His current position is
Associate Principal, Senior Designer and Chief Learning Officer responsible for operations, training, coaching and mentoring of
staff. Randy created FitzGerald Corporate University in 2006 and his major accomplishments include helping to galvanize his
current firm into a legitimate competitive global design collaborative.
While practicing full time, Randy has been an adjunct Associate Professor with six years leading graduate-level Building Science,
Design Studio, Professional Practice courses with Dan Wheeler & Doug Garofalo. His other leadership positions include serving
on the Chicago Architectural Club’s Board of Directors and as an AIA Chicago Board Member, Director and most recently Vice
President.
Randy has authored feature articles and book reviews in AIA FOCUS and other periodicals, as well as a forthcoming book on
architecture, design thinking and creativity. In 2000 Randy earned the committee nomination to receive the AIA Young Architect
Award.
In 2005 Randy became a LEED Accredited Professional and is dedicated to seeing that all of his design projects are sustainable
LEED projects. Randy’s work was featured in an Architectural Record article & excels at writing, marketing, proposal writing,
urban planning, master planning, urban design, & interior architecture.
As described recently by an architect colleague, “Randy is a versatile, resourceful, visual as well as verbal architect and designer.
He works quickly and effectively, equally well at all scales, in all phases. Randy is able to lead the design of projects while
motivating others around him. His positive attitude, and love for design in combination with eagerness for others around him to
learn and gain experience make him a sought-after mentor. Randy is a positive influence because of the energy he brings to the
office day in and day out. He leads his firm in its implementation of BIM and IPD. Randy has been a strong advocate of using the
latest technology to better represent ILlustrate and document architecturally what is designed. At the same time Randy does not
lose sight in how important it is to study, analyze, and continue to push the ideals of great design. He maintains a fresh, exciting,
academic approach while at the same time creating phenomenal and practical solutions. Randy also continues to be the firm
leader in sustainable design. Having worked on several LEED buildings, Randy’s years of knowledge on sustainability and green
buildings has been a tremendous source for not only each project, but every individual, as we move toward using less energy,
reducing cost, indoor air quality, water conservation, and sustainable sites.”
