The Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) through the MQA Act 2007 (Act 679) has a commitment to assist you to use your previous learning wherever possible. MQA may be able to recognize learning that you have gained through many different types of experiences which relate to situations that have taken place in your life and have not previously been linked to achieving a qualification or certificated award. This process which is called Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) has been prescribed in the Malaysian Qualifications Framework will provide you to progress in the context of lifelong learning to widen participation of adult learners and learners’ mobility.In the Malaysian context, APEL can be requested by a learner to support transition between informal and formal learning. 2. What is APEL?
• APEL is Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning. It
is defined as a systematic process involving the
identification, documentation and evaluation of
learning based on previous experience.
• The APEL process generally involves the evaluation of
experience-based learning that can be obtained
through various methods including formal schooling,
life and work experience, training, independent study,
voluntary work, hobbies and the like.
• The whole assessment procedure may take 2 to 4
months

3. Requirements
1) Program in Diploma Level, Level 4 or 5 MQF
• Malaysia Citizen
• Must be 20 years old and above
• Have relevant education or working
experience
