Kultsum, Fathimah
Outside the house of Rasulullah S.A.W.
 Abdullah ‘Atiq’ ibn Abu Qahafa
 And many more muslims by his effort

3.  The first group
 Uthman ibn Affan (34 yrs, Ummayad)
 Abdurrahman ibn Auf (30 yrs, Zuhra)
 Sa’ad ibn Abi Waqqash (17 yrs, Zuhra)
 Az-Zubair ibn al-Awwam (12 yrs, Asad)
 Thalha ibn Ubaidillah (13 yrs, Taim)

4.  Later on, second group come in
 Said ibn Zaid and his wife
 Abu Ubaidah ibn Al-Jarrah
 Al Arqam ibn Abil Arqam (Makzum)
 Uthman ibn Math’un (Jamh)
 Ubaidah ibn Al-Harith (Hasyim)
 Abu Salamah and his wife

5.  Later on, second group come in
 Suhaib ibn Sinan ar-Rumi
 Abdullah ibn Jahsh
 Ammar ibn Yasir and his family
 Abdullah ibn Mas’ud
 Bilal ibn Rabbah
 Mush’ab ibn Umair
and others…

6.  As-sabiqun al-awwalun. Not more than 40 people
 Selective dakwah
 people who likely to respond
 Mostly chosen for their character and noble manner
 Mixture men and women, the elites and the poor
 Secretive dakwah
 Important to protect the few muslim untill their iman
strong enough to face the onslaught later on

7.  Shalat and taharah were ordained from the very beginning
 2 times in the morning and evening, 2 raka’ah each
 Early Quran was received with understanding and deep
contemplation
 Focus on tauhid and creed
 Establishment of tauhid, remembrence of Allah
 Believe in the here after: life after death, reckoning,
vivid description of paradise and hell fire
 Stories of Prophets and their follower

8.  The first headquarter of da’wah
 The house of Al-Arqam ibn Abil-Arqam
 Why the house of Abil Arqam?
 Not known to be the close companions Prophet
 To young to attract Quraysh attention
 From bani Makzum, unlikely to embrace Islam
 His house is isolated from the rest of houses in Mecca
(beyond the Safa)

9.  Quraysh knew about this movement but do not pay much
attention initially
 Some people making claim against their idols in the past
 Akin to Qass ibn Sa’edah, Zaid ibn Amr ibn Nufail etc.
 No prosecution at this period
 Quraysh was alarmed with the message
 It treaten their way of life and social order
 Followers across family and social status in Quraysh
 They adhere to the teaching and leadership of Prophet
