1. PERSONAL COLLECTION DRAWING
Think carefully about your belongings, however meaningful or trivial they may seem, and
consider what they say about you, your personality, and your life.
Arrange a still life consisting of similar objects that embodies some aspect of who you are. Make
sure to locate your still life in a place at home where it can be set up for a few weeks without
being disturbed!
What to include in your drawing:
★ Repetition of similar objects, carefully placed in order to move your eye around the drawing
★ Dramatic Lighting to enhance contrast (wide range of values) - use a lamp!
★ Foreground, Middle Ground, and Background (Fill the ENTIRE page with what you see)
Materials:
White drawing paper (see size requirements below) & graphite pencil (can use any hardness,
but you will probably need to include 4B or 6B for dark values.)

DUE DATES:
9/17 - Thumbnail Sketches: Minimum of three thumbnail sketches in your sketchbook
showing various compositions (arrangements/views of your collection)
9/25 - In-Progress Check & Discussion: Minimum of 3 hours completed thus far on your
final drawing - MUST BRING IN YOUR DRAWING!!!
