Spanish SOW Overview of learning Listening 1  Introduction  - listen to music extracts and identify the style of music – listen again to identify the instruments and voices – group talk to express opinions of different types of music 2  Listening to Reggaetón  – identify differences, analyse rhyme & metre, join in with lyrics 3  Listening to Rap –  identify rhymes  and metre in the lyrics  (¿Cómo eres?) History and culture Transfer of key knowledge about HipHop/Rap – activities to generate key Spanish language for describing Hip Hop and Rap  1)  brainstorming  2)   Q & A  3)  Mind-mapping.  Introduce examples of variations of Rap from hispanic cultures  1) Reggaetón  ( Puerto Rico) and Reggae Español (Panama)  Composing 1  Individual work: lyric writing – intro-raps in Spanish (they can use their previous sample from music if they wish or borrow from Spanish examples or create new ones) Assessment 1 Whole class performance of individual  intro-raps Assessing accuracy of rhythm and metre, getting words in time, confidence in performance  as well as use of language and pronunciation

Lesson 2 1  Transfer  of key knowledge about HipHop/Rap – activities to generate key Spanish language for describing Hip Hop and Rap  a)  brainstorming  b)   Q & A  c)  Mind-mapping.  2  Introduce  examples of variations of Rap from hispanic cultures  1) Reggaetón  ( Puerto Rico) and 2)Reggae Español (Panama)  Lesson 3 1 Listen  to a Spanish rap and analyse the lyrics for rhyme, metre and rhythm 2  Identify  some key language in Spanish for producing rhymes on themes they are familiar with
