                                               Abstraks

Lahan tambak yang luas di Sulawesi Selatan merupakan modal dasar untuk meningkatkan
produksi hasil perikanan budidaya. Nila dengan karakteristiknya merupakan komoditas yang
berpeluang untuk bisa dikembangkan di lahan tambak, sehingga dapat memberikan alternative
komoditas budidaya, mendorong peningkaan produktivitas lahan tambak dan sekaligus
perekonomian masyarakatnya. Nila yang digunakan adalah nila hasil persilangan Gesit
(Genetically Enhanced Supermale Indonesian Tilapia) dan GIFT (Genetic Improvement of
Farmed Tilapia) dengan sistem budidaya semi intensif . Sedangkan sistem tradisional
menggunakan anakan nila Nirwana. Sistem semi intensif dilakukan dengan padat penebaran 3
ekor/m2 dan pemberian pakan komersial sedangkan system tradisional 1 ekor/m2 tanpa
memberikan pakan tambahan.          Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pada sistem semi intensif
menghasilkan 2,780 kg dengan size 3-10 ekor/kg dan kelangsungan hidup 73.03%. Pada pola
tradisional menghasilkan 298 kg dengan size 10-15 ekor/kg dengan kelangsungan hidup
70.30%. Dari hasil ini memperlihatkan bahwa nila berpotensi cukup besar untuk dikembangkan
di tambak dan sekalgus menjadi alternative komoditas selain udang dan bandeng.

   NILE TILAPIA CULTURE ON BRACKHISWATER PONDS IN SOUTH SULAWESI

                                               Abstracts

The large pond area in South Sulawesi is a main factor to increase the production of
aquaculture. Nile tilapia is a commodity with their characteristics of potential to be developed in
brackhiswater pond, so as to provide alternative option in pond culture, and boost pond
productivity as well economics and it’s community. Strain used is juvenile of Genetically
Enhanced Supermale Indonesian Tilapia (GESIT) × Genetic Improvement of Farmed Tilapia
(GIFT) cross with semi-intensive aquaculture system while the traditional aquaculture system
used Nirwana. Stocking density for Semi-intensive aquaculture system are 3 fish/m2 with
additional feed. Result showed that the semi-intensive aquaculture system was produced 2,780
kg with a size between 3-10 fish/kg and survival rate 73,03%. Traditional aquaculture system
was produced 298 kg a size 10-15 fish/kg. From these results demonstrated that considerable
potential for nile tilapia in brackhiswater pond and as well developed as an alternative
commodities in addition to shrimp and milkfish.

Perikanan, Desa Mappakalompo, Kecamatan galesong, Kabupaten Takalar E-Mail : nana_ssup@yahoo.com Abstraks Lahan tambak yang luas di Sulawesi Selatan merupakan modal dasar untuk meningkatkan produksi hasil perikanan budidaya. Nila dengan karakteristiknya merupakan komoditas yang berpeluang untuk bisa dikembangkan di lahan tambak, sehingga dapat memberikan alternative komoditas budidaya, mendorong peningkaan produktivitas lahan tambak dan sekaligus perekonomian masyarakatnya. Nila yang digunakan adalah nila hasil persilangan Gesit (Genetically Enhanced Supermale Indonesian Tilapia) dan GIFT (Genetic Improvement of Farmed Tilapia) dengan sistem budidaya semi intensif . Sedangkan sistem tradisional menggunakan anakan nila Nirwana. Sistem semi intensif dilakukan dengan padat penebaran 3 ekor/m2 dan pemberian pakan komersial sedangkan system tradisional 1 ekor/m2 tanpa memberikan pakan tambahan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pada sistem semi intensif menghasilkan 2,780 kg dengan size 3-10 ekor/kg dan kelangsungan hidup 73.03%. Pada pola tradisional menghasilkan 298 kg dengan size 10-15 ekor/kg dengan kelangsungan hidup 70.30%. Dari hasil ini memperlihatkan bahwa nila berpotensi cukup besar untuk dikembangkan di tambak dan sekalgus menjadi alternative komoditas selain udang dan bandeng. Kata Kunci : Nila, gesit, nirwana, tambak payau NILE TILAPIA CULTURE ON BRACKHISWATER PONDS IN SOUTH SULAWESI Abstracts The large pond area in South Sulawesi is a main factor to increase the production of aquaculture. Nile tilapia is a commodity with their characteristics of potential to be developed in brackhiswater pond, so as to provide alternative option in pond culture, and boost pond productivity as well economics and it’s community. Strain used is juvenile of Genetically Enhanced Supermale Indonesian Tilapia (GESIT) × Genetic Improvement of Farmed Tilapia (GIFT) cross with semi-intensive aquaculture system while the traditional aquaculture system used Nirwana. Stocking density for Semi-intensive aquaculture system are 3 fish/m2 with
  • 2. additional feed. Result showed that the semi-intensive aquaculture system was produced 2,780 kg with a size between 3-10 fish/kg and survival rate 73,03%. Traditional aquaculture system was produced 298 kg a size 10-15 fish/kg. From these results demonstrated that considerable potential for nile tilapia in brackhiswater pond and as well developed as an alternative commodities in addition to shrimp and milkfish.
