• The coal for S.S.T.P.S is received from :

• BHARAT COKING COAL LTD. (BCCL) DHANBAD (M.P.).-
  PEAT (Less calorific, high ash content)

• SOUTH EASTERN COAL FIELD LTD. (SECL) BILASPUR
  (M.P.)IMPORTEDCOAL (High calorific, less ash content)

• SOURCE OF TRANSPOTATION :”TRAIN”(58 wagons).

 TOTAL COAL CONSUPTION PER DAY:-15000 to 16000 mt.

D.M. WATER PLANT

• A DM plant generally consists of cat ion, anion, and mixed
  bed exchangers.

• Ions in the final water from this process consist essentially of
  hydrogen ions and hydroxide ions, which recombine to form
  pure water.

• Tank for DM water is made from materials not affected by
  corrosive water, such as PVC .
BOILER
• Boiler is a place where the water is being converted
  into steam with burning of coal.

• It is closed vessel in which water,under high pressure
  converted to steam.

• WATER TUBE BOILER are used in KSTPS.
TURBINE

• It converts the potential or kinetic energy of the working
  substance into mechanical power by virtue of dynamic action
  of working substance.


• When the working substance is steam it is called the steam
  turbine.
• TYPES OF TURBINE ACCORDING STEAM FLOW:-
  1 HP Turbine
  2 LP Turbine
  3 IP Turbine
GENERATOR
• Generator is a machine which convert mechanical
  energy into electrical.

• Various parts of generator.
  1. Stator body.
  2. Stator core.
  3. Stator winding.
  4. Distillate header.
  5. Terminal bushing.
  6. End shield.
  7. Rotor.
  8. Bearings.
  9. Brush gear.
TRANSFORMER
         &
    SWITCHYARD
• X-MER IS A STATIC DEVICE WHICH STEP UP OR DOWN
  THE VOLTAGE WITHOUT ANY CHANGE IN FREQUENCY.

• X-MER IS USE 125MVA .

• SWITCHYARD X-MER IS STEPUP X-MER.

• IN THE SWITCHYARD ALL UNITS ARE CONNECTED TO
  GETHER BY BUS COUPLER.

• SWITCHYARD SENT TO THE SUPPLY AT SAKATPURA(KOTA)
  & HEERAPURA(JAIPUR).
ASH HANDLING
          PLANT
• The complete ash handling plant is supplied, erected and
  commissioned by M/s INDORE PVT. LTD. DELHI.

• Bottom ash from the furnace is passed through slag crushers
  and then slurred to slurry chamber at the suction of ash
  disposal pumps.

ELECTRO STATIC
         PRECIPITOR
• Electro static precipitators used to remove fly
  ash from flue gases by high voltage
  electrostatic field.

• IT CONTAINS TWO ELECTRODES :-
• Emitting electrode
• Collecting electrode
CHIMNEY
     A single chimney of 180m height with two separate
flues for the two unit each of 110MW is provided.
Similarly another chimney with three separate flues is
also provided for another three units of 210MW each and
one chimney for the sixth unit of 195MW is also
constructed in 2003.
COOLING TOWER

• A cooling tower is a steel or concrete
  hyperbolic structure having a reservoir at
  the bottom for storage of cooled water.
  Warm water is feed to the top. Flows from
  the top to bottom. The water drops falling
  from the top come in contact with air, lose
  heat to the air and get cooled.
CONTROL ROOM


• In control room various controls are provided simultaneously
  various measurement are made various relays are provided
  here. Instrumentation Limited Kota is major supplier of
  apparatus.



• Automatic control is provided for combustion, for feed water
  regulation and reheat temp.
• The parameters
  recorded         in
  control      room
  included temp. of
  steam,      reheat
  steam , feed
  water, mill outlet
  temp.,     turbine
  speed,     control
  valve operation,
  turbine shaft ,
  BACK
  PRESSURE in
  condenser , metal
  temperature etc.
CONCLUSION



• Practical training at SSTPS provided us an
  opportunity for encounter with huge machines
  like boiler,tipper,210MW turbines etc.

• It also realized us that engineering is not just
  learning the structured of machines but greater
  part of planning and proper management.

  • 5. COAL HANDLING PLANT • The coal for S.S.T.P.S is received from : • BHARAT COKING COAL LTD. (BCCL) DHANBAD (M.P.).- PEAT (Less calorific, high ash content) • SOUTH EASTERN COAL FIELD LTD. (SECL) BILASPUR (M.P.)IMPORTEDCOAL (High calorific, less ash content) • SOURCE OF TRANSPOTATION :”TRAIN”(58 wagons). TOTAL COAL CONSUPTION PER DAY:-15000 to 16000 mt.

WATER PLANT • A DM plant generally consists of cat ion, anion, and mixed bed exchangers. • Ions in the final water from this process consist essentially of hydrogen ions and hydroxide ions, which recombine to form pure water. • Tank for DM water is made from materials not affected by corrosive water, such as PVC .

  • 10. BOILER • Boiler is a place where the water is being converted into steam with burning of coal. • It is closed vessel in which water,under high pressure converted to steam. • WATER TUBE BOILER are used in KSTPS.

TRANSFORMER & SWITCHYARD • X-MER IS A STATIC DEVICE WHICH STEP UP OR DOWN THE VOLTAGE WITHOUT ANY CHANGE IN FREQUENCY. • X-MER IS USE 125MVA . • SWITCHYARD X-MER IS STEPUP X-MER. • IN THE SWITCHYARD ALL UNITS ARE CONNECTED TO GETHER BY BUS COUPLER. • SWITCHYARD SENT TO THE SUPPLY AT SAKATPURA(KOTA) & HEERAPURA(JAIPUR).

  • 19. ASH HANDLING PLANT • The complete ash handling plant is supplied, erected and commissioned by M/s INDORE PVT. LTD. DELHI. • Bottom ash from the furnace is passed through slag crushers and then slurred to slurry chamber at the suction of ash disposal pumps.

  • 21. ELECTRO STATIC PRECIPITOR • Electro static precipitators used to remove fly ash from flue gases by high voltage electrostatic field. • IT CONTAINS TWO ELECTRODES :- • Emitting electrode • Collecting electrode
  • 22. CHIMNEY A single chimney of 180m height with two separate flues for the two unit each of 110MW is provided. Similarly another chimney with three separate flues is also provided for another three units of 210MW each and one chimney for the sixth unit of 195MW is also constructed in 2003.

  • 24. COOLING TOWER • A cooling tower is a steel or concrete hyperbolic structure having a reservoir at the bottom for storage of cooled water. Warm water is feed to the top. Flows from the top to bottom. The water drops falling from the top come in contact with air, lose heat to the air and get cooled.

  • 26. CONTROL ROOM • In control room various controls are provided simultaneously various measurement are made various relays are provided here. Instrumentation Limited Kota is major supplier of apparatus. • Automatic control is provided for combustion, for feed water regulation and reheat temp.
  • 27. • The parameters recorded in control room included temp. of steam, reheat steam , feed water, mill outlet temp., turbine speed, control valve operation, turbine shaft , BACK PRESSURE in condenser , metal temperature etc.
  • 28. CONCLUSION • Practical training at SSTPS provided us an opportunity for encounter with huge machines like boiler,tipper,210MW turbines etc. • It also realized us that engineering is not just learning the structured of machines but greater part of planning and proper management.
