- Some of these museums were the Louvre, the British Museum, Mexico City’s Museo Nacional de Anthropologia Acknowledged as a gift from the people of Atlanta to the people of Egypt.
- We see between 85,000 to a 120,000 visitors each year. For instance in 2008 we say 120,000 visitors when Emory co-presented “King Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharoahs” at the Civic Center the Carlos Museum hosted “Wonderful Things: The Harry Burton Photographs and the Discovery of the Tomb of Tutankhamun” – over the course of this exhibition we saw 60,000 visitors to the Museum. The graph depicts a benchmarking exercise we did based on data from the American Association of Museum Directors survey of over 150 museums across the country. In this case we picked key University Museum we would consider competition and noted these comparisons for the year 2009
- Asian Art – Started in 1894 when Emory acquired a collection of Asian objects from Methodist missionary in Japan African Art – The Museum’s largest acquisition of African Art was in 1994– soon after the 1993 expansion– of 900 works of sub-Saharan African art from the collection of William Arnett Works on Paper – 4000 prints, drawings, and photographs from the renaissance to contemporary works. You can enjoy the highlights in this collection in the smaller exhibition “Themes and Variations: Recent Acquisitions in Works on Paper” – you can enjoy an engraving by German painter, Albrecht Drurer alongside the large color photo by the contemporary film and video artist, Sam Taylor-Wood
