POTENTIAL
October 2013: African Pride 15 on Orange Hotel will remain in the African Pride Hotels portfolio under
the property’s new owners, Blend Property Group.
Founded in 2006, Blend Property Group is a vertically integrated property company focused on
development and investment in the office, industrial and retail sectors. The company has core
expertise in all facets of the property industry, including asset management and development skills.
The company purchased the building from the Liquidators of A Million Up Investments (Pty) Ltd.
Arthur Gillis, CEO of African Pride Hotels which is the superior deluxe brand within the Protea
Hospitality Group, says the hotel is performing exceptionally well – especially its new conference
centre and the inherent accommodation needs that flow from that – and the brand is looking forward
to working with Blend Property Group to grow the business of the hotel even further.
“The Blend Property Group believes we’ve managed the hotel exceptionally well and the numbers
speak for themselves. They’ve expressed the utmost confidence in our expertise and we’re looking
forward to working closely with them to grow the business even further.”
Blend CEO Martin Epstein says: “We are happy to be associated with the largest hospitality company
in Africa. We recognise the value that the Protea Hospitality Group brings to the table in terms of
management expertise, marketing and sales, as well as brand strength, which means we believe that
their premium African Pride Hotels brand is appropriate for 15 on Orange Hotel.”
Epstein says the tenant mix and events to attract both Capetonians and visitors to the precinct will be
the talisman to growing revenue.
Gillis says there is to be further investment to enhance the product offering such as a new port
cochere and private in-house GUEST gym among other things, on the back of continually increasing
demand from international consortium corporate business, the domestic market on both individual and
group and conferencing basis and international leisure markets.
“We’re positive we have the right partners in the Blend Property Group to invest in growing the African
Pride 15 on Orange Hotel precinct to its full potential,” Gillis concluded.
