“THEY ARE NOT DISABLED
            BUT
THEY ARE DIFFERENTLY ABLED”
Disability
     (Differently-abled)
 “Any restriction or
lack (resulting from
   an impairment)
of ability to perform
  an activity in the
  manner or within
the range considered
     normal for
    human beings”
Misconception
• “ In a society that places high value on youth,
  vitality & physical attractiveness; non-
  participants (people with disability) become
  invisible”

• People in our so called Modern Society usually
  posess certain misconceptions and consider
people with certain physical and mental
problems as disabled which is not TRUE.
THEY ARE DIFFERENTLY
       ABLED
Training and sensitization
of students is of utmost
importance to make sure
that students are confident
and do not feel uneasy, or
simply be uncertain, about
how best to deal with
disabled persons .

They should always be
ready to welcome and help
people with such different
abilities, instead of
considering them not abled.
“An environment of inclusion and
respect is of the essence for a
    successful democratic nation”
• One should always appreciate and accept
the uniqueness of each individual for
  betterment of community health.

• One must also try to provide mental &
  social support to care-givers, families,
  Institutions by volunteering.
• These differently abled people can
perform all the necessary tasks and lead a
normal life just like others provided given
  proper facilities and encouragement.

• Infact, some of the differently abled
persons have done wonders and have
worked not only for the betterment of
their own self but also for society.

• Some of the examples are ---
ALBERT EINSTEIN

Einstein was the great scientist of
the twentieth century and notable
physicist of all time.
It is told that he had learning
disability in his childhood. He could
not talk till he was three and could
not read till he was eight.
Despite such problems he later
became the noble prize winner for
his contribution to the Physics. His
theory of relativity is considered as
a revolutionary development of
Physics.
He got Noble Prize in Physics in
1921 for his explanation of the
Photoelectric Effect and for his
research in Theoretical physics.
MARLA RUNYAN

This American prolific runner is the
first competitor of Olympic as a
blind.
From her birth she is blind.
With her mental strength she
competed with the other athlete at
the highest stage of the world in
2000. She also participated in
the Para Olympic in 2000.
Marla set many records in the Para
Olympics in Atlanta. She showed
the world that quality and mental
strength can make everything
possible.
LEONARDO DICAPRIO

The young actor who shot to
stardom after the filming of
Titanic.
This celebrity also suffers
from Obsessive Compulsive
Disorder.
Leonardo is making a
conscious effort to break
the cycle. For example when
he walks down the road he
will try not to step on every
chewing gum stain.
• We just need to have a broader
  perspective towards them and accept
  them the way they are.
• Our help and support will not only
encourage them but will also enable
them to sustain a better life.
• Many Governmental Organisations as
well as the NGO’s are working for
  these people.
• For example-
• Community Based Rehabilitation
  (CBR) for the differently-abled
  people is an integrated programme
  component of CORD which works
  toward the holistic rehabilitation of
  its disabled beneficiaries in rural
  areas.
• CORD is working with 416 different
types of disabled people in 80 of the
  550 villages in Kangra, Himachal
  Pradesh through its CBR
  programme.
Attitudes towards
disability within
societies are changing
from those that were
disempowering &
excluding to a more
enlightened, inclusive
& empowering
approach.

To Conclude it is just
to say---
“WE JUST NEED TO
LEND OUR HAND AND
THEIR JOURNEY WILL
   CONTINUE”…..
They just need a Chance …
THANKYOU…
