3. Why Blogging?
A few years ago all of a sudden you began hearing
about everyone becoming bloggers. The lifestyle
was tooted as being carefree and easy. Well that
is not 100% true.
While it is relatively easy to get started as a
blogger there really isn’t any one place to go to
learn how to make it a full time profession.
I will attempt to show you how profitable and
simple blogging can be to start as a business.
Blogging is how website owners communicate
with their audience and content engines such as
Google and Yahoo love to visit these blogs as
much as people do to help more people find your
content.
The only thing you have to do as a blogger is
provide fresh content on your blog a few times
per week to keep people and the search engines
interested. I’ll go over with you exactly how to
grow a profitable blog in the next few pages.
4. The Different Types of
Profitable Blogs;
As a blogger you have a few options for types of profitable blogs;
Advertising Blogs
You can create a blog on any topic with the specific intention of earning
revenue through advertising. With this blog model you would you’re your
money from selling ad space on your blog. How much you earn is going to be
dependent on how many people visit your website, how targeted your ads
are to their needs and how long they stay.
Affiliate blog
Much like the advertising blog model you would earn your money by running
advertisements on your blog, the difference is that you would get paid more
when the visitor takes an action on the advertised website. So instead of
Subscription blog
This is where you would focus your intention on providing extremely high
quality content for a fee. People would sign up to pay you for your knowledge
or expertise on a monthly recurring basis.
This type of blog is very successful when you know your topic very well and
have enough material to provide new fresh content weekly or daily.
5. Once you have decided on the type of blog you are
interested in running you need to choose the niche
or topic for your blog. It should be something that
you have an interest in because you will need to
consume yourself in this niche in order to stay
relevant in your field. If you are not remotely
interested in the topic you can always outsource
the content to a writer.
Once you have chosen a topic you will need to do a little research to see if
this is a viable niche to work in.
Researching Your Blog
Topic
Not Every Niche Is Profitable!
For Example The Joke Niche Is One That Though It
Has A Ton Of Traffic, You Would Not Earn You
Much Money At All.
6. You need to find a niche where people are spending money every day. How do we
know if we have a profitable niche? Answer these 4 questions “yes” and you have a
profitable niche.
1. Are there advertisements on your main keyword in Google?
2. Does amazon have at least 10 books for sale on this topic?
3. Is there a “Dummies” book on this topic? (www.dummies.com)
4. Are there at least 1000 searches per month your main keyword? (Google
keyword tool)
How Do I Find A Profitable Niche?
There are a few places you can look to find a niche

8. Selling Ad Space
You can sell your ad space directly by placing

not to handle this yourself you can submit your ad

If you want to sell your own content you will need to
install a membership plugin and have a way to accept
payments from people. You can accept payments
through www.paypal.com or www.clickbank.com and I
recommend using www.wishlistmember.com
membership software for wordpress to create
restricted areas of your blog that people need to pay to
see.
9. Setting Up Your Blog
Wordpress is the recommended blogging
platform for a number of reasons. Mainly it is
very well supported and there is an enormous
community of developers who create plugins
to enhance your website some for free and
some you have to buy.
Which Plugins To Use
All in one SEO
Contact Form
Privacy Policy
Google XML Sitemaps
Installing Wordpress
It is easy to install wordpress, if you have a
host account with a control panel usually
there is an automatic wordpress installer that
you can click on to install wordpress in 1 click.
It may be called “Fanatstico” or “Softaculous”
10. Domain/Hosting
Get a domain and hosting for your blog. If you wan to be
professional you do not want to use free blogs and free domains.
Always pay for your own domain and hosting.
A word to the wise, avoid buying your hosting from the same place
you get your domain. I know it is convenient to buy them all at
once but in my professional opinion I have never seen hosting
from a domain provider that didn’t have restrictions that made
running certain software, applications or plugins an issue.
My recommend host is www.hostgator.com and you can buy your
domains from www.godaddy.com
11. Getting Traffic
Once you have your blog setup you need traffic so how do we get people to
visit our blog? You should do as many of the traffic methods mentioned
below possible and do them continually.
Your strategy should be always to find multiple streams of traffic so that
your business is not dependent on any one source.
Free Traffic Methods
Guest Blogging
This is where you write articles on popular blogs with lots of traffic.
When you guest post you get the benefit of backlinks and direct
traffic. If you can guest post on high traffic blogs you can see
significant traffic immediately, through your link right in the author
bio box.
12. SEO
By far SEO is the slowest method of getting
traffic. But it is free traffic, and it will cost
you in time spent waiting for the traffic. By
all means make sure your blog is optimized
and ready for Search Engine traffic but don’t
dwell on it.
Forum Marketing
This is the easiest to start with and the
most often over looked. Simply put a link
to your squeeze page in your signature
and hang around in forums related to
your niche. Post often but make sure you
are not spamming just to get your link
seen.
13. Paid Traffic Methods
If you are going to do paid traffic methods you
should make sure you are sending the traffic to a
page where you can capture the leads information
of have them perform some specific action that
earns you money. You can setup a squeeze page for
this type of traffic.
1. PPV – This is where you run ads on pay per
view networks such as www.directcpv.com
and www.leadimpact.com. Your ads will
appear when someone views a website
related to your offer.
2. Solo Ads – The crème de la crème … I saved
the best for last. Running paid ads sent to
other people’s lists, that is what’s called a solo
ad. Solo ads are inexpensive compared to
other traffic methods and your audience can
be very targeted in most cases. The best
places to find solo ads are www.safe-
swaps.com and
www.warriorforum.com/warrior-joint-
ventures. You will pay somewhere around
$0.50 – $1.00 per subscriber depending on
the ad cost.
Rinse and Repeat Often!
