5. The HOPE Project Using peer education to prevent sexually transmitted infections including HIV/AIDS among 18-24 year olds in Genesee County http://hopegenesee.org

6. What is the HOPE Project? Genesee HOPE is the core project of the PRC/MI for 2009-2014. YOUR Center is the lead community organization partner. HOPE aims to reduce the disparities of high HIV/STD rates among African-Americans young adults in Flint and Genesee County. Participants in the HOPE Project attend a HOPE Party and are then invited to connect with HOPE online. For more information about HOPE, contact: Bettina Campbell, YOUR Center (810) 789-8637

7. What’s aHOPE Party? HOPE Parties are informal gatherings at someone's home where you can get together with a few of your friends and learn about healthy sexuality in a safe and comfortable environment. HOPE Parties are a fun and educational way to get factual information about HIV and sexually transmitted diseases, which are becoming more common throughout African-American communities in Flint, Michigan, and many other cities around the world. During a HOPE party, a certified sexual health educator, along with a party host, will lead a discussion among friends about the behaviors that people engage in that put them at risk for becoming infected with HIV, called “risk behaviors”.
