British Airways Flight 38 from Beijing to London experienced engine failure as it was approaching the runway at London Heathrow airport. The autopilot called for more engine power but received no response, and the pilot was also unable to intervene or respond the engines. The plane continued descending and just cleared the perimeter fence, crashing onto the turf short of the runway. All 152 passengers and crew aboard survived with only substantial damage to the aircraft, despite the plane losing engine power so close to landing.
