   chapter members
2. Unlikely to provide
   referrals
3. Always a substitute,
   never a member
Who should I ask

Send a substitute that will
do a great job of
representing you:
1. Team member or
   employee
2. Business person
   friend or family
3. Happy customer,

1. Explain the basic concept of BNI
2. Provide the details of your meeting:
     –     Where, When, Who…
3. Explain how to present themselves
4.       Explain how to present your business
     –     Provide them with a written version of your
           60 seconds. Prepare it in advance
     –     Walk them through it
     –     Bring them as your guest beforehand

  • 3. Why do I need a substitute? 1. GIVE a source of referrals to compensate for your absence 2. GAIN a guarantee you’ll be remembered
  • 4. Who shouldn’t I ask to substitute for me?
  • 5. Avoid substitutes that won’t represent your company well: 1. Competes with your chapter members 2. Unlikely to provide referrals 3. Always a substitute, never a member
  • 6. Who should I ask to substitute for me?
  • 7. Send a substitute that will do a great job of representing you: 1. Team member or employee 2. Business person friend or family 3. Happy customer, happy customer, happy customer…
  • 8. A happy customer is likely to GIVE you a great testimonial and will GAIN referrals from your chapter Being a substitute isn’t a chore. It’s a PRIZE!
  • 10. Help them look good! GIVE good preparation, GAIN great substitution.
