In order to foster a grass-root bottoms-up approach to innovation and development and to arrive at solutions for local problems, which are sustainable and scalable, there is a need for seeking out and campaigning for ideas that have the potential to solve challenges. Accordingly, based on the innovative ideas received from the local people regarding developmental projects, a ‘One MP – One Idea’ Competition may be held in each Lok Sabha constituency annually to select the three best innovations for cash awards and certificate of appreciation for next five best innovations.

2. Introduction
Promote political leadership as champions of innovation,
the National Innovation Council has proposed the
scheme ‘One MP-One Idea’
Sustainable & scalable ideas which can potentially solve
local challenges at grassroots level
Cash award to the three best innovations in each Lok
Sabha MP’s constituency, each year

4. Innovation Areas Covered
The competition will invite innovations in the fields of
Education
and skill development
Health
Water
and sanitation
Housing and infrastructure
Agriculture
Energy
Environment
Community and social services
And more..

5. Application Procedure
The innovation solutions can be submitted directly (as per Form
1) by
Individuals
Group of individuals
Industry
Industry consortia
Academia
NGO
Other institutions from the constituency may apply
Or innovations can also be nominated by reputed people in the
constituency (as per Form 2)
All entries will follow same screening process

6. Selection Committee
Screening Committee headed by DC/DM of the Nodal District and
six other members to be set up
Six members would be from – (a) Engineering, (b) Finance, (c)
Health and Sanitation, (d) Academia, (e) Industry and (f) Banking
and Financial institutions
The members of (a)-(c) should be from Central/State/UT
Government
Lead banks and financial institutions may finance good
innovations
Selection committee will select three best innovations through a
transparent process and submit recommendations to State
Government

7. Awards and Expenditure
Cash awards of Rs. 2.5 lakhs, Rs. 1.5 lakhs and Rs. 1
lakh will be awarded to the first, second and third
prize winner respectively
The expenditure (administrative and advertisements)
may amount to maximum 10% of prize money, which
is Rs. 50,000
The award and expenditure money would both be
provided by MPLADS scheme and be debited from
MPLADS Funds

8. Awards and Expenditure
Awards will be given to winners by the MP in a public
function with adequate media coverage in the
presence of DC/DM
Innovators will get an opportunity to demonstrate
their innovation at the award function
A certificate of honor (as per Form 3) will be given to
the awardees.
A certificate of appreciation would also be given to the
next 5 best innovations based on the list prepared by
the selection committee.
