JHipster is a trendy Yeoman generator that provides the possibility to create an AngularJS + Spring Boot project from the scratch in no time. I would like to share the idea of JHipster and a set of tools that it comprises. I will superficially cover scaffolding and the explicit tool, that makes scaffolding plain and easy to adopt, named Yeoman. Started in October 2013, JHipster has grown and obtained a developing community, furthermore, it is growing rapidly as for the past year about 150 programmers contributed to it. During the presentation, I want to perform a live demonstration of creating a new project based on the aforementioned core and a few subsidiary technologies. Since JHipster includes a great deal of technologies it’s a good source of common practices.

This talk is dedicated to helping you understand how you can easily build reusable pieces of user interface while assembling your overall experience. Specifically the emerging technology of web components is introduced as the way you can package your HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to produce drop-in solutions. It’s like building UI elements and widget controls for the web. By using this tactic to architect your sites you’ll reduce time, and increase quality, of the work your development team produces. See how designers and developers will use the deep functionality web components offer. Make custom HTML tags backed by the necessary markup, style, and code. This unique bundle mixes presentation with behavior creating rich and flexible micro-interactions. I’ll review how the popular browser makers are implementing this emerging technology on desktop and mobile. I’ll introduce Google’s Polymer library as a way you can use web components now while platform owners are in the process of supporting the proposed standard.

I've seen a lot of NodeJs applications. I see a lot of misunderstandings around architectural patterns. 99% of NodeJS tutorials do not cover this topic and limited to "hello world" apps. How to build a really large application? How to think about architectural layers? What is wrong with the majority of JS frameworks? How does GraphQL influence my architecture? I will answer all of these questions.

A designer has been asked to mock up an example student profile page in Photoshop. It’s beautiful. The student’s name fits perfectly under the profile image. Their bio is split into two perfectly aligned columns. The design just feels… right. Approvals are given and the production of a website with many different profiles is started. As more profiles are added the design no longer seems to work. It’s starting to seem like the website itself will no longer work. The cold, hard reality of varied and inconsistent web content has hit the project hard. Do we make large design changes or just live with it? To head off this question we should utilize real content as we develop mock-ups. But it shouldn’t just be one set of real content. Delivering the best possible and most robust websites requires us to design using the best-case, worst-case, and every-case-in-between content. By combining the skills of content specialists, designers, and even developers designs will be that much stronger.

By the end of 2012, it is expected that more than 80% of the world’s population will have access to a smartphone. Your library users will assume that your library can be accessible from anywhere, at any time, and on any device. Now is the time to be ready! During this hands-on webinar, you will: - learn the differences between native and web apps. - understand the various technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and how they work together to build mobile web apps. - gain hands-on experience using jQuery Mobile to develop a fully functional mobile-optimized web app. - have access to a free Web server so you can continue to work/test your project live on the Web. - continue to work with Jason and Chad so you can have a mentor during and after your project.

Session Presented at 1st IndicThreads.com Conference On Mobile Application Development held on 19-20 November 2010 in Pune, India WEB: http://M10.IndicThreads.com ------------ Speaker: Romin Irani Abstract: HTML5 is expected to become mainstream soon. It brings a lot of new features that developers can incorporate today. The Webkit browser is currently the best implementation of the HTML5 standards and it is also available on a variety of Mobile devices like iPhone, Android, etc. Mobile Web applications are getting powerful day by day. They have distinct advantages over Native mobile applications. With Webkit available on most Smartphone browsers, you can create powerful mobile web applications today. Combine this with some of the latest HTML5 features, and it makes a compelling alternative available to developers today. This session will give an overview of : a) What mobile web applications are and their pros / cons vis-a-vis Native Mobile applications. b) HTML5 features like geolocation, offline storage, web workers, etc c) How one can use HTML5 features mentioned in (b) to develop mobile web applications today. d) Demonstrate all the above features via code samples. e) Cover challenges involved in making sure that the same code base runs on all mobile browsers in a majority of Smartphones. Takeaway for the audience: a) Knowledge about upcoming HTML5 standards specifically features like geolocation, offline storage, web workers, etc. b) Understand of Mobile Web applications and how we can use HTML5 standards to deliver powerful web applications that are delivered on most smartphones today. c) Challenges involved in making sure that the Mobile Web Applications works well in most browsers across different devices.

HTML5 and CSS3 have arrived and they are redefining rich, standards-based web development. Features previously the exclusive domain of browser plug-ins can now be added to web applications as easily as images. Understanding the new power that these standards define, as well as the rapidly increasing power and speed of JavaScript in modern browsers and devices is essential. These slides accompany a full-day workshop, where attendees are guided through the new features in HTML5 and CSS3, with special attention to how these technologies can be used today in new and old browsers.

By Juan José Sánchez Penas. WebKit is a web rendering engine (HTML, JavaScript, CSS) with a generic part (WebCore, JSEngine), and 'ports' for specific platforms that implement bits like rendering, networking or multimedia. In the WebKit community, companies&individuals cooperate to evolve a complex codebase. Given the popularity of HTML5 and web tech, WebKit is a key open source project. About 10 months ago, Google announced Blink, a fork of WebKit which attracted many former WebKit contributors. Igalia's Browsers team maintains the WebKitGTK+ port and is top contributor to WebCore, JSC, V8, other ports (EFL, Clutter, Qt), and Blink. The talk will review the past/present/future of WebKit/Blink, their dynamics and development process, , the relationship with the Linux ecosystem, and will give information about how to contribute to or use both projects. Not very technical. Valid both for developers & managers.

PhoneGap (aka Cordova) is a cross-platform framework for developing mobile apps using standard web development tools like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Join Troy Miles to learn how to create mobile apps with PhoneGap by building a simple but full-featured app during this hands-on class. Troy explores PhoneGap’s important capabilities, including GPS, camera, and audio recordings. Because JavaScript has a reputation as a somewhat difficult language, Troy teaches techniques for keeping your code robust and clean. To give your app the appropriate look and feel for the device on which it is running, the class will use the open source Chocolate Chip UI framework for testing. Troy shares ways to debug the code by running it as a web app, using browser development tools, or as a phone app, using the Chrome browser’s remote debugging features. Leave with the basics you need to start building your own cross-platform mobile apps.
