1. Creando tours panorámicos virtuales

Creado originalmente por Microsoft Live Labs, Photosynth es un servicio gratuito de Microsoft que
une fotos digitales en un modelo 3D y ofrece un visor interactivo para explorar el modelo en detalle.

Photosynth soporta dos tipos de modelos 3D: "panoramas" y"synths":
• Los Panoramas facilitan una vision contigua de las fotos tomadas desde un mismo punto (como
se puede ver en esta escena panorámica de la recepción de un hotel).
• Los Synths facilitan vistas de fotos tomadas desde múltiples perspectivas y con diferentes
grados de detalle. Además de que posibilitan navigar a las fotos individuales (como se puede

Paso 1:Saque sus fotos
Sacar las fotos es el primer paso, ¡muchas! La calidad de las fotos determinará la calidad del resultado
final del synth. Además de las calidades tradicionales (luces, objetivo, etc.), algunos otros detalles que
puede tener en cuenta:
Manténgase en el centro de la habitación, y saque primero las fotos panorámicas. Saque fotos que se
solapen, al menos con un solapado del 50% entre fotos.

2. Muévase y saque fotos desde diferentes ángulos y perspectivas, intentando tener cada parte de la escena
en al menos 3 fotos diferentes desde diferentes perspectivas.
Cuando se mueva alrededor de objetos, intente tener una foto por cada 15/25 grados aproximadamente.
Una vez haya sacado las fotos, y antes de crear el synth, asegúrese de que todas sus fotos tienen la
misma orientación. No corte las fotos (confunde a Photosynth).
Paso 2: Convertirlas en un tour 3D panorámico ó “Synth”
Los Synths se crean en su máquina local y se suben al servicio de Photosynth utilizando un plugin
gratuito para el navegador. La creación y publicación del synth implican lanzar la aplicación de
Photosynth Application, seleccionar las fotos, establecer los atributos del synth, y publicar su synth.
Antes de poder empezar a crear synths, necesaitará crear una cuanta de Photosynth y descargar la
aplicación gratuita de Photosynth.
Una cuenta de Photosynth le permitirá subir synths al servicio de Photosynth. Cada cuenta gratuita
dispone de hasta 20 GB de almacenamiento. Para crear su cuenta de Photosynth:
• Vaya al website de Photosynth, y haga click en el enlace de Create Account en la parte
superior.

3. Windows Live ID sign-in page
• Introduzca un nombre de usaurio y descripción y haga click en el botón Create Account [Ver

La aplicación de Photosynth , el "synther", es un plugin para el navegador que convierte colecciones de
fotos en synths, y los sube al servicio de Photosynth. El "synther", solo necesario para crear los
synths,solo funciona en Windows. (Si es un usuario de Mac, funciona en Boot Camp). Para instalar la
aplícación de Photosynth:
• Click en el botón de Upload, en la parte alta.

• Haga click en Start a new synth para lanzar la aplicación de Photosynth. [Ver Pantalla]
Haga click en Add Photos, para empezar a seleccionar las fotos que incluir en el synth.

7. Selected Photo. (Esta es la imagen que será mostrada cuando el synth aparezca en una lista de

• Tags: Puedes añadir etiquetas de búsqueda para localizar el synth más fácilmente en el sitio de
Photosynth.
• Description: Texto que describa el synth.
• Visibility: Por defecto los synths son Públicos. Si quiere, pude publicar el synth como
"Unlisted", loq ue significa que no aparecerá en las búsquedas de Photosinth. Los usuarios que
conozcan el enlace podrán acceder directamente (El almacenamiento para los synths de tipo
unlisted es de 1Gb).
• Photo Rights: Determina el nivel de propiedad intelectual que quiere ejercer sobre el Synth. El
valor por defecto es CC – Attribution (Creative Commons Attribution license). Puede
seleccionar otras licencias Creative Commons, o reservarse todos los derechos seleccionando la
opción de copyright.
Click en el botón Synth en la parte baja de la ventana para crear y publicar su synth.
Ahora tiene que esperar a que se cree el Synth. Dependiendo del número y complejidad de las
fotos seleccionadas, puede tomarse algo de tiempo. La barra de estado le informará de la parte
del proceso que está siendo llevada a cabo, y de cuando el proceso ha acabado.
• Cuando se ha completado, haga click en el botón View para ver su synth publicado.
• Desde esta página se pueden gestionar atributos adicionales, como está descrito en la sección
Conceptos Avanzados más adelante en este tutorial. Por ahora, haga click en el botón Exit
(esquina inferior derecha) para continuar.
Paso 3: Incluir un visor en su sitio web
Incluir un synth publicado en una sitio web es tan fácil como abrir el synth, copiar una porción de
código e incluirla en la página deseada. El código puede incluirse en cualquier página que soporte el
elemento iframe.
• Vaya al sitio de Photosynth y haga click en el enlace My Photosynths en la parte alta de la

10. Generate panoramic images with Photosynth
What is Photosynth?
Photosynth is a powerful set of tools for capturing and viewing the world in 3D. You can share your
creations with your friends on Facebook, publish them to Bing, or embed them in your own blog or
Web site. Here’s the big picture:
How do I Capture the World in 3D?
Photosynth offers two styles for creating immersive 3D experiences: panoramas and synths. Check out
the differences between them, and the tools available for creating them.
Panorama
Shoot a panorama when you can capture everything from a single location with a single zoom level.
Great for giving a sense of what it feels like to be in one particular place. Can be 360° in both
directions, but doesn’t have to be.

11. Simple to navigate - all you can do is go left/right, up/down and zoom in/out.
Make them directly on your mobile phone (Windows Phone and iPhone), or by processing photos in
Microsoft Research’s Image Composite Editor.
Synth
Good for capturing different sides or details of an object. Synths were the original experience on this
site, and they remain its unique feature.
More complex to navigate than panoramas because you are moving from photo to photo.
Make them by processing your photos in the Photosynth desktop application that runs in Windows XP
and above.

12. Making Synths
How do I get Started?
First create a Photosynth account. Then download the tool or tools you need:
• To make panoramas from your Windows Phone 7.5 or above, get the Photosynth app from the
Windows Phone Marketplace.
• To make panoramas from your iPhone, get the Photosynth app from Apple’s App Store.
• To make panoramas from your PC, install Image Composite Editor and the Photosynth
application.
• To make synths, just install the Photosynth application, if you don’t already have it.
Start small. Pick a simple subject first, such as a piece of furniture or a single painting. You should be
able to make a great 10-photo synth in just a few minutes if you follow the tips below. Then move on to
something more ambitious.
• “The Rule of 3″. Each part of the scene you‘re shooting should appear in at least three separate
photos taken from different locations. This rule means that you are going to shoot a lot more
photos for a synth than you would for any other purpose.
• Panorama first, then move around. Start by taking a panorama of your scene, then move
around and take more photos from different angles and positions. If you just do a panorama you
won‘t end up with a good 3-D experience.
• Lots of overlap when shooting panoramas. You should try for 50% overlap on average between
photos.
• Limit the angles between photos. When moving around objects, try to get one photo every 25
degrees or so. That will make the synth work better. Larger angle differences on a subject won‘t
match up.
• Shoot scenes with lots of detail and texture. The visual texture in the photos is what ties them
together. A blank wall won‘t synth. One with lots of art or posters will work well.
• Don’t crop images. It confuses Photosynth.
• Shoot wide shots. Photos taken from farther away, or with your camera‘s lens zoomed all the
way out, reconstruct more reliably than closer shots. It‘s good to have close-ups, too, but you‘ll
want to have good coverage of your subject with lots of nice overlapping wide shots.

13. • Orientation. Make sure your photos are all right-side-up before you start synthing
Mobile Panoramas
Capture, upload, share, and view Photosynth panoramas wherever you go with the Photosynth app for
Windows Phone and iOS. These panoramas can be created wherever you carry your phone. Capture
strange incidents at local businesses, incredible vertical drops in the Norwegian fjords, or whatever
places or events inspire you. From just a few stitched photos up to full spherical panoramas, the
Photosynth app allows you to take Photosynth on the go and use it anytime.

14. The app features an innovative capture system that lets you see your progress during capture, powered
by Photosynth’s computer vision algorithms. Your images are quickly stitched together into an
interactive panorama which you can explore right on your device. All of your panoramas are stored on

Photosynth.net account on the device with the interactive streaming viewer.

16. The Photosynth app is full of ways to share your panoramas from your device. To share an immersive
experience, just store your interactive panoramas on Photosynth.net and then announce it to your social
network. Also, you can keep a flat image of your panorama in your Camera Roll or share it with your
Facebook friends or your Twitter followers. And, with Bing Maps publishing, you could become
famous by letting the whole world see panoramic views of your favorite places and businesses. (Learn

The app is currently released on Windows Phone 7.5 and above, and on the iPhone 3GS and above, the
iPad 2 and above, and the 4th generation iPod Touch. Download it from the Windows Phone
Marketplace or the iOS App Store now.
Publishing Panoramas to Photosynth
Users of Microsoft Research's popular and free panoramic stitcher, Image Composite Editor, can
upload their beautiful creations to Photosynth and share them with friends and enthusiasts worldwide.

Sharing your Panoramas
Once your panorama has been uploaded to Photosynth.net, it will have its own page and all the normal
sharing and embedding options you'd expect:

photosynth.net, and when we do they usually get more than 10,000 views in short order. Additionally,
if you've geotagged your pano it can appear on Bing Maps and if you associate it with a business it can

By default everything you publish is publically accessible on Photosynth.net, but there are simple

To publish to Photosynth you'll need to create a Photosynth account, and download the Photosynth
processing application. If you don't already have ICE, you can download it here. Then just click the
