1. What did you enjoy about the tour?
• xxxxxxx Meeting a wide variety of people
• xxxXxxSeeing a variety of schools in New Zealand with a strong emphasis on supporting
the development of student voice
• xxxxxMatt was an outstanding facilitator and host. Naketa did a tremendous job in
Auckland
• xxxThe warm reception from and information exchange with Core staff at Learning@School
and the dinner
• xxOrbit Travel--the itinerary prepared for us was very professional and helpful
• xHaving time to play tourist in Auckland and Christchurch
• xxHaving the opportunity to talk with teachers and students during the school visits
• xxI loved seeing the use of technology as a teaching tool.
• xx I LOVED experiencing the beauty of New Zealand and the Maori Culture - HCB
• xI loved learning about the school system in New Zealand
• xThe amazing schools we visited. A good sequence from high-tech to student generated
curriculum. I read an article about having students develop the curriculum long ago (will
share with the group), and now I've seen it in action. (AB)
The meeting in the Auckland University Epsom campus was very full of important information.
2. What did you not like?
• Raw chicken burger
• xxxxxOrbit travel--very slow response time to requests for initial planning and booking.
• Consider a different travel agency with more timely response
• xxCredit card still smoking
• I would not recommend working with Jodi Skidmore again. Final output good, but very
slow response time and not generally helpful. AB

xA shopping time away from the main CBD stores ie factory outlet
xxWish we had more time in some schools to talk to children
xxxVisit a Maori language school
xxXI would have liked to have visited a school in Rotorua.
• some more detail prior to trip, about the history and folklore lof schooling in New Zealand
• xmaybe a few shorter days; we went from dawn til dusk many days; but the weekends
were placed just right--at the beginning and end of the first week AB
xxNot to change visits to innovative schools, but rather to add schools that are more main stream
so we can have a reality check!
4. Other comments
• xxI had high expectations for this trip, but they were exceeded at every turn.
• xxMatt was a wonderful host; great to have him along to guide our travels
• xxThe people in New Zealand, the resources, and our group was so great that it made this
a unique and very enlightening experience!!!
• xxThe experience was amazing! The focus schools were well thought out and gave a very
good overview of the New Zealand educational system.
• I knew that coming to New Zealand would enhance my view on learning and education, but
I'm amazed at how it has expanded!!
• Was a great learning experience for me and I will be applying in my classroom and spread
all the information for the rest of my collagues.
• xxMatt's personality was perfect to working with a group on tour
