The Galapagos Islands are volcanic islands. They are
near the coast of Ecuador.
Mauna Loa in Hawaii is bigger than any other volcano
in the world. It is 120 kilometres long.

7. Vesuvius is an extinct volcano in Italy. It is a
very famous volcano because there was a
terrible eruption.
One afternoon the people from Pompeii heard
a loud noise. They looked up and saw a cloud
of ash.
People ran out of their houses, but they could
not breathe. Thousands of people were dead.
People forgot about Pompeii for 1,500 years.
But in 1595, people who were digging a well
found some old ruins.
They found streets, shops and fine houses.

9. It is in Sicily ( Italy ). It is an active volcano.
Mount Etna erupts every few years, the
biggest eruption was in 2002-2003. A huge
column of ash could easily be seen from the
space and Libya.

10. It is in Canary Islands (Spain). It's an active
volcano. The last eruption was in 1,909.

11. It is in Washington. Is an active volcano.
It erupted in 1980 and 57 people were killed. There was an
earthquake. At the begginning it was 2,950 m and after the
eruption 2,550 m high.
