My Day as a Journalist

2. Using digital-imaging technology to modify or create a work of art for use in a digital presentation. (1,2,6) Students could then use video editing programs such as Movie Creator and I-Movie to edit their pictures and video from the personal interview -Click on the Picture to see a how to video on Youtube on how to use I-movie
3. Produce a media-rich digital story about a significant local event based on first-person interviews. (1, 2, 3, 4) I would use this performance indicator in my classroom by having the children do a project in which they film themselves giving an interview to someone in the family asking them to answer a list of questions.
4. Conceptualize, guide, and manage individual or group learning projects using digital planning tools with teacher support. (4, 6) I would encourage students to use programs such as Google docs as well as social networking programs and emails to plan out their project digitally over the computer. Students can use the Google docs program to start putting their paper together and keep each other on track.
5. Debate the effect of existing and emerging technologies on individuals, society, and the global community. (5, 6) One of the possible ideas I thought of doing in regards to this standard was having the student group together and discuss topics and questions in regards to the technologies in the global community. They could then come up with a few questions every thinks is most important to ask their interviewee.
6. In the End.. With the use of all these programs and guidelines this activity will help to not only engage the students but also help them to develop their technological skills.
