A Gift for One Who Has Freedom Behind Bars

it’s often the smallest gifts of all that touch the
hearts of those in need.
A suggestion this Christmas….find someone
who has a specific need and fill it, particularly
a need they cannot fill themselves. That is
what our Saviour did for us!

with excitement about his gifts. He tells of
being in many Bible studies at the prison, all
led by Lutherans! His teachers rave about his
new Bible, and he says, “I never thought I
would ever own a leather Bible!” He wrote to
thank you, the congregation, for your support
of his spiritual growth through this gift. He

o Quality children’s picture books and easy readers (in good condition)
o Popular fiction and nonfiction reading books such as novels or chapter books
(no romance).
o Up to date (1995 or newer) elementary, secondary, and college textbooks.
o Up to date (1995 or newer) reference books such as encyclopedias, atlases,
and dictionaries.
• School/Office supplies (paper, pens, pencils, wall charts, maps, etc.)
• They are an English speaking people.
Please do NOT send:
• Magazines or journals of any kind.
• Home decorating, wedding, or cookbooks
• Ethnocentric books, such as the biography of Abraham Lincoln or the history
of Ohio.
• Foreign language books except for French books. French novels/dictionaries
are welcome.
• American history or civics.
• Music books.
A Special Treat: Miranda Paul the WI coordinator for the Books for Africa project will be with us on
Dec. 2nd and will do a presentation in the Parlor/library at 9:15. Come and learn more about
Gambia and its people as well as the book project.
