1. How to Install Desktop RAM Memory
The more the RAM in your computer, the faster it will operate. There are 6
steps to be followed as you how to change the RAM in your desktop
computer.
RAM or ‘random access memory’ can be referred as a memory format that
is used in both desktop and laptop computers that helps data to be
transferred from your hard drive and processor. RAM can be related to a
middleman who increases the data transfer speeds. The more the RAM that
is prevalent in your desktop or laptop computer, the faster it will operate.
You need to replace the RAM memory in order to repair a faulty RAM or to
upgrade your computer so that it works faster.
How do you change the Desktop RAM?
Step 1: First of all unplug all the connections so that there is no static charge
damage to the machine. To perform the upgrade and get access to the
motherboard will depend on your PC model. Check the computer manual to
gain an access to the ram modules by removing your desktop computer
casing.
Step 2: It is highly advisable to clean up the internal parts of the PC by
using a compressed air can for the unit and a cotton bud to clean the internal
fans. Cleaning the dust will ensure that the PC runs smoothly with its new
upgrade.
Step 3: Locate the RAM module slots. These slots are normally located
close to the heat sink with a small fan. These are available in 1 pair or 2
pairs of 2. You can easily identify these slots by their narrow width and
small clips on either side.
Step 4: Now it is time to install the RAM. Once the RAM slots have been
taken and other things removed, its time to install your RAM chips. Lower
the small clips on either side and the chip will pop out to be removed.
Step 5: Make sure that the RAM chip is aligned properly. The clips should
be unlocked in the down position before you continue to place the chips in
the module holes. The most preferred way is to insert one side first till you
hear a small click. Then apply pressure on the other side till you hear the
second clip lock.

2. Step 6: Slowly put your desktop PC back together. Connect all the
accessories and all the power connections. Turn on your desktop PC and it
starts recognizing the new addition. Continue to boot into windows.
You need to double check a few things if you find that the computer doesn’t
boot
1) Make sure you have bought the correct memory that is compatible
with your specific motherboard.
2) Maybe one slot is faulty. Try a different slot into your motherboard.
3) The chips should be in place and sturdy without being able to move.
The clips should be holding the RAM chips down.
