The Work on Purpose program helps young people in or entering the first decade of their career
identify their purpose and put it into action by creating a career with impact.
Throughout its 25 year history, Echoing Green has performed thousands of in-depth interviews with
its world-changing social entrepreneurship Fellows— from the founder of Teach For America, to the
founder of the Freelancers Union, to the founder of City Year. In the process, they uncovered a series
of best practices that lead individuals to fulfilling work that makes the world a better place. The
Work on Purpose program teaches these best practices through its signature Work on Purpose
curriculum & training, which is currently used by hundreds of faculty and staff around the country.

• Workshops led by Echoing Green in which future facilitators experience multiple workshops
from the curriculum for themselves – in order to better explore their own purpose and to see
components of the curriculum in action
• Training for future Work on Purpose facilitators in which participants learn the Work on
Purpose ethos and principles, strategies, and best practices for helping people to identify
their purpose and develop the boldness to turn their purpose into action
• Time in which participants can practice leading Work on Purpose workshops and receive
feedback from their peers
• Time to create an action plan for how to incorporate Work on Purpose into their institution’s
current structure
Lunch and an afternoon break are also included in the full day training. All participants receive a
certificate of completion and two copies of the book, Work on Purpose.

The Work on Purpose training is the first step to becoming certified. Participants who lead a
minimum of two sessions within one year of being trained and submit data and evaluations to
Echoing Green for review will be considered for certification.
Certified individuals are certified for life; there are no recurring membership costs to access the
Work on Purpose curriculum and supplementary tools.
