Feature Description
Fastest Time to Value Mature and Proven at Scale
Turn-key Cloud Solution
Simple, one-package installation. Allow administrators to install as a starter cloud or run at scale with centralized
management across different regions or availability zones.
Proven at Scale Scale beyond 40,000 hosts per region with multiple regions running in production public and private clouds.
On-Demand Virtual Data Center Hosting Provide users with virtually unlimited amount of computing resources – on demand as required and billed by actual usage.
Usage Metering
Provide users real-time visibility, produce historical usage reports, and create billing invoices by integrating with
metering data generated by the CloudPlatform Usage Engine.
Citrix CloudPortal
Business Manager Integration
Provision services defined in CloudPortal Business Manager through CloudPlatform. Support the commercial and
operational aspects of cloud service delivery for enterprise IT and service providers using CloudPortal Business
Manager based on usage metrics and user profiles from CloudPlatform.
Deliver every workload Leverage best of breed virtualization, storage and networking technologies
Scale Up and Scale Out workloads
Orchestrate every workload regardless of type: scale-up workloads such ERP/CRM/RDBMS and scale-out
workloads such as social, mobile and big data apps on the same cloud deployment.
Hypervisor Agnostic Support commercial hypervisors including Citrix XenServer, VMware vSphere, Oracle VM, KVM, and Bare Metal.
Storage Agnostic Orchestrates over block, file and object storage irrespective of the storage technologies and prototocols underneath.
Network and Network Services
CloudPlatform allows users to choose the type of network architecture that best fits their needs. Networks available
out-of-box include the Basic Network, a flat L3 network or an advanced network which could be based on VLANs or
SDNs and allows the users with a wide variety of network services. CloudPlatform also comes with an in-built virtual
router which can provide all of the network services.
Enterprise-Class Cloud Architecture Multitenancy and Workload Encapsulation for the Enterprise
Dedicated Private Cloud/Physical Isolation
CloudPlatform's infrastructure layers - hosts, clusters, pods, zones provide physical isolation for resources such
as CPU, memory, storage and network. Dedicated resources can be applied to any of the infrastructure layers to
support virtual private cloud use cases.
Logical Isolation
CloudPlatform's logical isolation hierarchy includes - Domain, Sub-domain, Account, Users. Usage quotas can
be applied onto any layer in the hierarchy. CloudPlatform's logical isolation hierarchy can be used to model the
organizational structure in typical enterprises so that a domain can represent a business unit; users can be grouped
into Accounts which may represent a team. A sub-domain could represent a division in a larger business unit.
Granular Tracking and Metering
Support admin-defined service offerings. Resources consumed in the service offerings can be granularly tracked
and metered for showback/chargeback to individual users, business units or by projects. Advanced metering is
supported through the integration with CloudPortal Business Manager.
Enterprise Grade Cloud Networking
Meet enterprise networking requirements for architectual complexity, scale, customer defined SLA's and load
balancing/firewall services. CloudPlatform allows admins to either use commodity infrastructure or best-of-breed
products for networking and network services. In-built virtual router provides all of the network services out-of-box.
Admins can also integrate purpose-built infrastructure components for specific network services.
nTier Applications and Virtual Private Cloud
CloudPlatform provides enterprise applications and virtual private clouds with the same level of enterprise grade
security and reliability as traditional IT. Granular networking, routing, firewall rules, load balancing and access control
can be applied to individual application tiers.
Vmware vCenter Integration
With the integration with Vmware Vcenter, CloudPlatform can manage the VMware environment and perform tasks
such as Virtual HW hot add, VMotion, VMware HA and DRS, apply CPU & RAM overcommit controls, VM snapshots,
snapshot restore and volume snapshot enhancements. Additionally, dvSwitch and PVLAN networking support enabled.
