SDNs and allows the users with a wide variety of network services. CloudPlatform also comes with an in-built virtual
router which can provide all of the network services.
Enterprise-Class Cloud Architecture Multitenancy and Workload Encapsulation for the Enterprise
Dedicated Private Cloud/Physical Isolation
CloudPlatform's infrastructure layers - hosts, clusters, pods, zones provide physical isolation for resources such
as CPU, memory, storage and network. Dedicated resources can be applied to any of the infrastructure layers to
support virtual private cloud use cases.
Logical Isolation
CloudPlatform's logical isolation hierarchy includes - Domain, Sub-domain, Account, Users. Usage quotas can
be applied onto any layer in the hierarchy. CloudPlatform's logical isolation hierarchy can be used to model the
organizational structure in typical enterprises so that a domain can represent a business unit; users can be grouped
into Accounts which may represent a team. A sub-domain could represent a division in a larger business unit.
Granular Tracking and Metering
Support admin-defined service offerings. Resources consumed in the service offerings can be granularly tracked
and metered for showback/chargeback to individual users, business units or by projects. Advanced metering is
supported through the integration with CloudPortal Business Manager.
Enterprise Grade Cloud Networking
Meet enterprise networking requirements for architectual complexity, scale, customer defined SLA's and load
balancing/firewall services. CloudPlatform allows admins to either use commodity infrastructure or best-of-breed
products for networking and network services. In-built virtual router provides all of the network services out-of-box.
Admins can also integrate purpose-built infrastructure components for specific network services.
nTier Applications and Virtual Private Cloud
CloudPlatform provides enterprise applications and virtual private clouds with the same level of enterprise grade
security and reliability as traditional IT. Granular networking, routing, firewall rules, load balancing and access control
can be applied to individual application tiers.
Vmware vCenter Integration
With the integration with Vmware Vcenter, CloudPlatform can manage the VMware environment and perform tasks
such as Virtual HW hot add, VMotion, VMware HA and DRS, apply CPU & RAM overcommit controls, VM snapshots,
snapshot restore and volume snapshot enhancements. Additionally, dvSwitch and PVLAN networking support enabled.

Amazon Web Services (AWS)
style Operations and Scale
Cloud era Scalability and Operations
Object Storage
Enable AWS S3-like object storage in a region or across multiple zones. Provide scale out workloads with
transparent access to storage across geographic and logically defined locations. The same S3 based object storage
can be used as secondary storage for IaaS and Storage as a Service (STaaS).
Regions
Create AWS-like Regions consisting of multiple availability zones. By creating multiple Regions, CCP admins can
achieve higher availability, higher scalability as well as geo- specific compliance requirements for data as well as
management plane.
Virtual Machine Management
Manage virtual machine creation and maintenance. Import, create, store OS and ISO templates
in CloudPlatform. Launch VMs across multiple zones using the same template. Preserve configuration states with
VM in the secondary storage, take snapshots of disk volume on a scheduled or adhoc basis.
Advanced Cloud Networking
Cloud providers can provide advanced cloud networking configurations and Network-as-a Service (out of the box)
that includes portable IP, advanced load balancing with GSLB. More granular control of networking resources such as
built-in router that provide network services such as DHCP, NAT, load balancing, Firewall VPN and port forwarding.
On-Demand, Automatic Elasticity
Similar to autoscaling in AWS, CloudPlatform along with NetScaler provides AutoScale Technology that
automatically expands and contracts the cloud resource according to application demands.
Unified and Flexible Management
Manage large-scale, geographically diverse cloud infrastructure trhough a centralized, active/active management server
cluster. Designed for redundancy, any single component failure cannot cause a cluster-wide or cloud-wide outage.
Open and Flexible Architecture API Compatibility with AWS
Open source and community led
CloudPlatform's code base has been merged with Apache Cloudstack, the most active community-led project in the
Apache Foundation.
Flexible user and management interfaces
Provides multiple methods for interacting with the management layers. From a rich, menu- driven, web-based admin
interface to interacting directly with the CloudStack RESTful API or command line interface (CLI).
3rd party integration Integrated with multi-cloud deployment, monitoring tools and billing solutions.
Industry Standard APIs
CloudPlatform API's are extensible and well-documented and includes support for Amazon Web Services (EC2)
and S3 APIs.
Third Party Plug-in Framework
Custom plug-ins built by customers or partners have seamless UI integration with CloudPlatform. Plug-in will appear
alongside with Citrix-provided features.
Platform Features Unified and Flexible Management
Secure Multi-tenancy
CloudPlatform infrastructure management technologies provide a secure multitenant cloud environment to be built
on shared datacenter hardware. Customers have the choice of building the cloud on commodity or enterprise-grade
server, storage, and networking equipment.
Secure Cloud Deployment
Ensures that all memory, CPU, network, and storage resources are both available and isolated from one user
account to another within the cloud.
Host Maintenance with Live Migration
Upgrades and hardware maintenance can be achieved on the cloud with no downtime for guest VMs. Citrix
CloudPlatform will live-migrate any VMs from hosts that have been targeted for maintenance to prevent any
disruption of service.
Storage Maintenance
Citrix CloudPlatform facilitates periodic storage maintenance by allowing administrators to gracefully shutdown all
guest VMs with a single click. Once maintenance has been completed, all guest VMs tied to that storage server are
automatically restarted.
Guest Password Management
Users can further enhance their guest OS templates to include CloudPlatform custom random password feature that
will automatically generate a unique password upon the creation of a VM. This will allow your customers to securely
login and change their password. Both Windows and Linux based OS platforms are currently supported.

Provide scale out workloads with transparent access to storage across geographic and logically defined locations. The same S3 based object storage can be used as secondary storage for IaaS and Storage as a Service (STaaS). Regions Create AWS-like Regions consisting of multiple availability zones. By creating multiple Regions, CCP admins can achieve higher availability, higher scalability as well as geo- specific compliance requirements for data as well as management plane. Virtual Machine Management Manage virtual machine creation and maintenance. Import, create, store OS and ISO templates in CloudPlatform. Launch VMs across multiple zones using the same template. Preserve configuration states with VM in the secondary storage, take snapshots of disk volume on a scheduled or adhoc basis. Advanced Cloud Networking Cloud providers can provide advanced cloud networking configurations and Network-as-a Service (out of the box) that includes portable IP, advanced load balancing with GSLB. More granular control of networking resources such as built-in router that provide network services such as DHCP, NAT, load balancing, Firewall VPN and port forwarding. On-Demand, Automatic Elasticity Similar to autoscaling in AWS, CloudPlatform along with NetScaler provides AutoScale Technology that automatically expands and contracts the cloud resource according to application demands. Unified and Flexible Management Manage large-scale, geographically diverse cloud infrastructure trhough a centralized, active/active management server cluster. Designed for redundancy, any single component failure cannot cause a cluster-wide or cloud-wide outage. Open and Flexible Architecture API Compatibility with AWS Open source and community led CloudPlatform's code base has been merged with Apache Cloudstack, the most active community-led project in the Apache Foundation. Flexible user and management interfaces Provides multiple methods for interacting with the management layers. From a rich, menu- driven, web-based admin interface to interacting directly with the CloudStack RESTful API or command line interface (CLI). 3rd party integration Integrated with multi-cloud deployment, monitoring tools and billing solutions. Industry Standard APIs CloudPlatform API's are extensible and well-documented and includes support for Amazon Web Services (EC2) and S3 APIs. Third Party Plug-in Framework Custom plug-ins built by customers or partners have seamless UI integration with CloudPlatform. Plug-in will appear alongside with Citrix-provided features. Platform Features Unified and Flexible Management Secure Multi-tenancy CloudPlatform infrastructure management technologies provide a secure multitenant cloud environment to be built on shared datacenter hardware. Customers have the choice of building the cloud on commodity or enterprise-grade server, storage, and networking equipment. Secure Cloud Deployment Ensures that all memory, CPU, network, and storage resources are both available and isolated from one user account to another within the cloud. Host Maintenance with Live Migration Upgrades and hardware maintenance can be achieved on the cloud with no downtime for guest VMs. Citrix CloudPlatform will live-migrate any VMs from hosts that have been targeted for maintenance to prevent any disruption of service. Storage Maintenance Citrix CloudPlatform facilitates periodic storage maintenance by allowing administrators to gracefully shutdown all guest VMs with a single click. Once maintenance has been completed, all guest VMs tied to that storage server are automatically restarted. Guest Password Management Users can further enhance their guest OS templates to include CloudPlatform custom random password feature that will automatically generate a unique password upon the creation of a VM. This will allow your customers to securely login and change their password. Both Windows and Linux based OS platforms are currently supported.
