Editorial
t seems like only yesterday we started developing Frotcom for a Portuguese
company. It still amazes me to see how far this project has come.
For one, just look at the great meeting we held in Lisbon this month of June.
Partners from countries as far apart as South Africa, Greece, the UK and Colombia
were present to share their views and experiences. Over the three days, we were
able to receive invaluable feedback, discuss the roadmap and present some
upcoming features. The Frotcom Team is definitely moving forward.
In second place, the fact that Frotcom is
continuously growing in spite of an
economical and financial turmoil which
has left few countries untouched, makes it
clear that not only is Frotcom a good
solution but it is even more useful when
companies have to keep controlling and
cutting costs. Each month, more and more
companies adopt Frotcom as their
selected fleet management system.
In third place, due to our strong focus in fleet management, the solution has evolved
and now become a reference or even the standard in many of the countries where it
is being distributed. One Partner told us that in their country companies now look
for “a Frotcom system” in the same way that we all use brands such as Jeep,
Jacuzzi or Aspirin to mean a generic product.
I believe that all this is not an accident. It is the consequence of having a good plan,
sticking to it and then listening to customers and business partners; correcting what
needs to be corrected and taking in all the good suggestions we can. At the end of
the day, the solution becomes more powerful than ever and customers receive all
the benefits.
PS - By the way, that first Frotcom customer…is still a Frotcom customer. This in
itself says a lot about why Frotcom – both the system and the service provided to
customers – is being so successful.

New Certified Partner
Frotcom arrives in Colombia
June turned out to be a month full of accomplishments and happy events for
Frotcom. One of them was the creation of the new Frotcom Colombia.
The main focus of the company’s activity is to provide value-added integrated
logistical solutions for customers, maximizing their performance and service
levels, as well as to provide them with interesting tools for competitive
differentiation.
“Our company joins Frotcom’s network because we know
that Frotcom International has a long and successful
experience in vehicle tracking and fleet management
solutions. We are sure that partnering with Frotcom is a big
opportunity for us to grow and achieve, as planned, at least
20% of the market share in the next three years, gaining a
respectable position in the Colombian market,” said Lina
Bernal, Director at Frotcom Colombia.
Regarding the new partnership, Nuno Liñan, CMO at Frotcom International
communicated “This partnership represents an important milestone for Frotcom,
as we continue our rapid growth and further extend our global reach into new
international markets. We are confident that Frotcom Colombia will be
successful in the Colombian market and we will be actively involved in helping
them reaching the desired objectives.”
ROADMAP welcomes Lina Bernal and the Frotcom Colombia team on board and
wishes them successful operations.

Did you know?
Reducing the impact of
transport on global warming
Transport is currently one of the
main causes of pollution. When it
comes to climate change and global
warming, there is a strong case to
argue that there is a link between
the carbon dioxide produced by
transport and rising temperatures.
Europe is putting CO2 reduction high
on its list of priorities and the
transport sector is one area that can
help. To make this happen, the EU is
working on boosting the use of
electricity, hydrogen, biofuels,
natural gas and liquid petroleum gas.
Streets are changing
The use of clean and energy efficient
vehicles saves money, keeps the
planet healthier and provides
business opportunities for those
developing innovative technologies.
While private buyers are enjoying an
increasingly wide range of choices
when it comes to fuel-efficient cars,
or cars that don’t run on oil-based
fuels, public authorities are also
doing their bit. Now, when they
decide which vehicles to use in their
fleets, they have to take on board
how much fuel the engines will use
and the amount of CO2 and other
pollutants they will emit.

more than 50 professional exhibitors from

the Frotcom system and all its features, such as two-way communication, Eco-
driving and the new Workforce Management module.

Tip of the month
Displaying consumption
information on fuel graphs
This feature is focussed on all
companies using analogue fuel
sensors and the Fuel management
module.
The objective in the case of this type
of fuel level sensors is to have
similar information to the one
already available for CANBus fuel
control:
Fuel graphs have a new semi-
transparent collapsible panel
showing information about fuel
consumption in the selected period.
To slide the panel up and down,
click on the small arrow to the right
of the word Consumption.
The information presented is the
following:
Distance - Distance according to
GPS, travelled by the vehicle in
the period under analysis.
Fuel consumption - Fuel
consumption estimation from
fuel level, according to the rules
established for the detection of
refuelling and drainages.
Average consumption (L/100km) -
This is the fuel consumption
divided by the total distance
travelled in the period and
divided by 100Km.
Average consumption (L/hour) -
This is the fuel consumption
divided by the total travel time
in the period.
This feature is only available for
accounts with Fuel management
active, because parameters regarding
refuelling and drainage are necessary
to estimate consumption.
