Question 1
Maternity leaves are never objectionable however when it comes to paternity leaves it
becomes one of the most controversial topics of all times. Reasons for maternity leaves are
well justified as the women have to carry the child with them as part of their body until the
child is born but there are justified reasons for the paternity leave as well. Men have just as
much right, need and obligation to spend quality time bonding with and caring for a newborn.
With families living isolated from close relatives, it may be difficult for the mother's family
to support her after the birth of the baby as was tradition. Now introducing paternity leave,
the father can play this important role. One of them is a reasonable amount of time , it will
make a world of difference, and having help from father could be very helpful for mothers.
Men should get paternity leave from work for a reasonable amount of time, because
becoming a parent is a life-changing event that they need to be a part of. Statistics have
proven that men that are an active part of their children's births and are present for the few
weeks after have a stronger bond with their children, making them better fathers, and giving
the children a better environment to grow up in.
When a woman gives birth to a child, it is emotionally and physically draining. If a father has
the opportunity to stay home for the first couple of weeks to care for both his wife and his
new child, it will make a world of difference. I don't believe that paternity leave needs to be
several months like maternity leave is. But giving men a few weeks will have a positive
effect on home, family life, and happiness.
People argue that most men cannot handle the household well. That is why some people also
believe that fathers cannot take care of their children as well as mothers do. Usually men is
more clumsy about taking care the household and children, so people think that fathers will
not really help with the new member. But, mothers can experience difficulties during giving
birth, thus healing time is needed for the mothers. In this time, having help from father could
be very helpful for mothers. So taking paternity leave for father is needed for helping the
mother.
Conclutions, nowadays, we already get used to maternity leave, that because mothers should
take a rest from their job during their healing time after giving birth to their child. But now
fathers can take paternity leave too. Even there are people who still arguing whether fathers
should take paternity leave or not. However, fathers who take paternity leave can be very
helpful to taking care for their family.

Question 2

Modern technology is one of the main reasons why our country becomes successful.Human
life absolutely changed when modern technology was invented. It helps people to
communicate faster and makes our lives easier. One of the greatest modern technology
nowadays include computers,i-pad,phone,electric stove and so on.Thesenew invented
technologies really changed our lives. We can see the changed in our lives now from the
past. There was a big difference on how we live now because of these new highly invented
technologies.I agree that modern technology makes life more convenient and efficient. For
example
In our past life, peole are using pen and paper for communication.Forexample,in writing love
letters they need to write in a piece of paper to express their feelings to the one they love or
admire. But now they can express it through sending text messages, phone calls or sometimes
in social networking sites like Facebook,Twitter,orWechat. They can even write love letters
by not using papers and pen ,they just type and sent it via email. And through these social
networking sites, they can talk to their family that lives in other country by video
calls.Modern technologies is a big help in communication ang it helps us manage our
time. How does it help us manage our time? For example people used to wash their dirty
clothes using hands but now they just have to put their dirty clothes in the washing machine
and press some buttons. It simply shows that you can finish washing your clothes early and yo
can still do other things after that.
As a student I really do appreciate the advancement of technologies and I think all of us
benefits from it.We , student are the most individuals who need technology in life.We always
use the internet for research purposes, for our project or assignments. Our knowledge improves
and it also enhances our vocabularies by the internet. In the past, student used books in finding
some informations that’s why the encounter difficulties in searching for some answers unlike
now you just have to type , click , and search. We now also have video cameras,or digital
cameras, and we are using it for our projects.I can really say that there are many advantages of
having modern technologies in our lives.
Technology helps to save time, money and material. At present time, all the factories, houses
and other businesses are equipped with high tech machine, electronicgadgets. These products
able to finish the complex task in few seconds.Futhermore, informations technology make the
life simple or convenient.Person can get information about anything at anytime in few second
with the help of internet.Globalisation of the whole world is occurring due to modern
technology .It is very easy to travel any part or the world and even in space because of high
technology.
In conclusion,Advancement of technology really helps us in different ways.It really changed
the way how people live, learn, work and communicate. It overcomes our problem in having
difficulties in our work.Time is precious and modern technology helps us to manage our
time.It makes our life convenient and we can work faster. So in one day,we can do a lot of
things now compared to the past.People just have self-discipline and be responsible anough in
using these modern technologies. We should know how to limit our selves so thah we can live
a better and healthy living. It is all for our own good and we should be thankful that these
technologies are invented.
Question 3
People’s thinking is obtained from the informations which comes from various
sources, especially mass media.Every house has at least one kind of mass media, whether it is
tv,radio, ornewspapers.I personally support that the mass media have strong effect in forming
people’s thinking for some reasons. For examples their own interest, shapes people ideas and
can change their ways of thinking.
Firstly, some people utilize mass media for their own interest.Spreading idea through the mass
media is like doctrination but in faster way and wider range.By on air broadcasting , an
information is spreaded to many people in many place in short time. Some studies show that
people could spend more than five until eight hour each day to watch tv,listen to radio,or read
newspaper.Furhermore, the development of technology creates a new trend of enjoying the
mass media by internet. The ease of access, cheapcost, and mobility increase the amount of
people who obtain information from the mass media.According to this fact, the mass media
affects in forming ideas of greater number of people supported by the development of
technology.
Secondly, human brain works every second absorbing infoemations consciously and
unconsciously. In many cases, human keeps unconsciously absorbed information rather than
consciously absorbed one.By repetition of the same informations, the mass media
unintentionally shapes people’s idea. The clearest fact today shows that with much news
about crime published almot everyday through tv,radio and newspaper, people start to accept
that crime is an ordinary matter in their life.It results in the increasing of crime rate
committed from unconsciously absorbed information which is obtained from mass
media. This fact proves that the repetition of the same information every day, people accept
the truth of one statement.
Third,On the other hand, the media can effect the paradigm of society. What the audience see
and listen can change their ways of thinking.Forinstance,tv shows ideal famly life and the
audience star considering and taking about that life. Moreover, when the audience feel the life
can be imitated and improve their quality of life ,they will try to transform their lives to be
better than before.
In conclusions,it seem to me that people ‘s thinking today is mostly affected by the
information obtained frm mass media.Even a statement considered wron at the first time
could change to be right.

Question 5
The improvement of people’s living standard owes too much to the rapid development of
science and technology. However, people nowadays are confronted with so many problems,
such as the deterioration of environment, air pollution and the explosive expansion of
population. Some people claim that the damage to environment is an inevitable consequence
of economic development.Example damage of the environment is many helpful precise
inventions which caused a huge turn in our daily life, noise pollution and The lack of
awareness of environmental protection.
Nowadays, we live technology age. We are living the development stage in technology and
sciences. In the last century, scientists discovered so many helpful precise inventions which
caused a huge turn in our daily life. One of which, is the mobile phone and all other recent
technological gadgets. Although rising incomes, science, and technology have had a
generally positive influence on our life, they also threaten the ecosystem. I will look at how
the development of technology and use of energy are harming our planet. Let’s take for
instance the revolutionary new forms in the mobile phones, these require development of the
new methods. To produce such phones the engineers have to think days, month or even years
and they will have to use electricity to run the computers, lights. At the same time the power
generating stations will have to supply them with more power and so more emissions into the
air will be released.
In order to make more profit, some manufacturers and factories are only keen on the pursuit
of profits, caring nothing about the protection of environment and the recycling of waste
water. For example, about fifty percent of people in Shenzhen possess a private car, and the
ownership is increasing by 7,000 each month. The exhaust gas and irritating noise impair
people’s health greatly. The prosperity of economy is obtained at the cost of people’s health
and the damage to environment.
The lack of awareness of environmental protection is another factor causing damage to
environment. Some near-sighted local governments are only concerned about economic
development but pay little attention to environmental protection, misunderstanding that
economic development says for their achievements and that environmental protection only
wastes money.
Conclusion If people and the authorities concerned have a long-term developing perspective,
I think the damage to environment is avoidable. Along with the development of technology
and people’s living standard, the government should take effective measures to handle the
problems arising. Meanwhile, the manufacturers and factories should consider not only
economic profit but also social benefit. If the government and people can join hands in
solving environmental problem, we will enjoy an azure sky and flower fragrance in the near
future.

Question 7

Few people would question that tourism and travel can be highly volatile industries. A great
deal of the industry is dependent on the leisure traveler. However, tourism is composed not
only of leisure travelers but also other groups such as business travelers, and these nonleisure travelers often act and spend in the same way as leisure travelers. Tourism and travel
professionals know that their industry is exposed to political, health, and economic
undulations. Often it is heard that these ups and downs are outside of tourism and travel
professionals’ control. While to some extent industry leaders are forced to react to
circumstances outside of their control, an awareness of current challenges can help these
leaders to prepare for eventual challenges and to seek ways in which to lessen the negative
impact of exigent circumstances. Below is a list of some of the current challenges facing the
tourism and travel industry.Firstlyquality, taxed industry and security is a major challenge.
Quality is as important to tourism as any other advertising budget. The handling of local
village tourism can be the cause of some difficult debates. But the mistakes can be disastrous,
not only from the economic viewpoint, but also civic infra- structure and environmental
problems. If you wait too long and lose your quality, all the rest will be just pollution and
garbage with social problems and ills.
Tourism is a highly taxed industry. Few people, outside of the tourism and travel industry,
realize just how many taxes travelers pay. Look at the percentage of taxes paid on an airline
ticket, a hotel room, or a rental car. In some locales (be that local a country, city, state or
province) almost 40% of the commodity’s cost comes from add-on taxes. When government
officials claim that they must provide additional protection services to non-residents they
often fail to take into account just how much money non-residents add to a local economy not
only through purchases but also through the payment of taxes
Security is a major challenge to the tourism and travel industry. The tourism and travel
industry should have received a major wake-up call on September 11, 2001. Unfortunately
many industry leaders simply provided lip-service to security issues rather than confronting
the problem. Too many tourism offices or convention and visitors bureaus have no (or almost
no) contact with their local police departments. Too many police departments have no
officers trained in TOPs (tourism oriented policing/protection services). Too few city
councils or local governments have provides their security agencies (e.g., policy departments)
with the economic and manpower resources to protect the visitor and tourism facilities.
Almost no community has done a tourism security assessment of its industry’s personnel and
sites. Unless the visitor’s security becomes a primary focus of concern, many tourism and
travel destinations may face great economic losses in the future.
Tourism lets people make a living and fulfill our social need to connect with nature. But
tourism can also have a hefty toll on a landscape’s ecology. The decisions we make about
solving and avoiding environmental problems will determine whether tourism and landscapes
share a working relationship.
