Hi, My name is Floyd Holdman and today I am going to talk to you about Visualization and Goal setting. Two important principles that will decide the direction of your life.

Which one would you choose? You do have a choice. Each day you are making choices.
You are where you are because that is where you have chosen to be. And that is a result of your response to your conditioning. But you do not need to be a victim of conditions or conditioning. Once you accept this fact, your life can begin to change. You need to take responsibility for where you are today – good or bad. You change your life as soon as you change your attitude. Your attitude has developed through repetition. As soon as you change what you repetitively think, your actions will begin to change. When your actions change, your environment changes. What you once thought was impossible becomes possible.
You change your life (which is a result of your actions ) as soon as you change your habits . Your habits are a result of your reflexes . Your reflexes have been developed through repetition . As soon as you change what you repetitively think, your reflexes will begin to change. When your reflexes change, your habits change. And once your habits change you are on your way to taking positive action to reach your goals. What you once thought was impossible becomes possible.
Let’s start with repetition. These are the thoughts or actions that you have been exposed to over and over. Some by choice and some not by choice. Let me give you a few examples
Some of these sayings will be different in different countries but I am going to be speaking from my own experience here in the U.S. You ask your parents for something and they say Money doesn’t grow on trees. You think I can buy you anything you want? Don’t speak to strangers Don’t speak unless spoken to. Children should be seen and not heard. Don’t go where you are not wanted Don’t bite off more than you can chew. Now, as you begin to build a TNI business and you talk to people you will quickly learn that even though most of these repetitive negative saying were learned in childhood, they still play a powerful influence in the decisions that adults make today. And unfortunately there is more negative affirmations out there today than positive ones. Let’s take them one at a time.
Money doesn’t grow on trees. (change) I can’t afford to start my own business. Money is tight right now. I can barely pay my bills. Can I pay you later? (They want you to take the risk instead of them.)
Don’t speak unless spoken to. (change) I don’t like to bother my friends and sell to them! Who do you like to do business with? People you know and trust! This kind of goes along with “Don’t rock the boat”
Don’t speak to strangers (change) I’m afraid to talk to people I don’t know! I want opportunities to come to me instead of going out and looking for them
Don’t go where you are not wanted (change) I can’t go to their house, they didn’t invite me! I can’t do anything without permission from somebody. This was a hard one for me, because the way I was raised, I had to have permission for everything I did.
Don’t bite off more than you can chew. (change) What if I fail, what then. I will never live it down! Can you see how many of these negative affirmations that we have learned can prohibit a person from doing what is necessary to build a successful TNI business?
So one of the important thing for each of us is to work on building a positive self-image. An image that will allow us to do the right things to build our TNI business or even to build a successful ife.
You are unique. There is no one else like you. You have done great things in the past and your future is going to be even better! After you have made your list, keep it handy so you can use it to remind yourself of how great you are when you may get discouraged.
You need to create a “Happy Place”. This can be anywhere that you feel at peace and are undisturbed. It is a place where you feel free from the distraction of the world.
It could be soaking in a bathtub (That is where mine is) In my bathtub I lock the door and put on soft relaxing music, with no words (the words can interfere with my thinking). Go to your Happy Place and tell yourself the kind of person you are, the goals you are achieving. Speak it out loud so your hear the sound of your voice. Put your goals in the present tense. “I love people and they love me. I am a responsible person. People like to be around me. I speak good of all people, even those that harm me. Success flows to me because I rely on the spirit of God to guide me.” and so on. Remember, it is your attitude that decides the direction of your life.
If you are having a hard time thinking of positive things us my “Empowering Thoughts” booklet Tom (my son) gave this to each member of his Sunday school class and told them that if they memorize all the quotes he would throw them a pizza party. They memorized them all and they still quote them today and use them daily. They are 13 years old.

Let’s talk about setting goals
So again, what is your purpose. Why are you on this earth and what do you want to accomplish? You need to have a WHY?
By not having a WHY is like going through life being treated like a ball in a pinball machine. Your life is mostly up to chance and where you go depends on which bumper you hit. There is no real direction. Your just hoping for the best. You’re never really totally in control, you become crisis driven
To get out of the pinball syndrome you need a mission Statement. Take your time in creating your mission statement. Mine took several weeks. Read your statement everyday until you have it memorized and then act on it. I was a photographer because of my mission statement and I joined TNI because of my Mission Statement. It has been my guiding light now for over 20 years. I was 45 years old before I realized I needed one. I had wasted many years of my life acting like a pinball in a pinball machine. Don’t put it off. Do it Now! Your mission statement is your WHY. WHY is much more important than the HOW? Don’t put the HOW before the WHY. That is what most people do and that is why most people never reach their goals. The HOW? Will work itself out.
All progress has disappointments… but what you do with those disappointments is what makes the difference!
One person breaks and another person bounces…what makes the difference? Purpose and Persistance!
So let me ask you. What does your future hold?

If you are going to Dallas, what is the key thing you need to know? Where are you now! If you do not know your starting point you will never be able to make a map to get you there
If you are wanting to get to Grimstad, Norway you are going to have to know where your starting point is. Once you know it is Stockholm you can start making progress.

Everyone needs a Dream Sheet. This is going to be your WHY and direct you towards your destination.
Reaching goals is like working on a picture puzzle . To try and put together the puzzle without a photo to go by is an almost impossible task. The same is true in your life. To try and reach goals without visualization you will have nothing to go on, no reference points and will be hopelessly lost in trying to reach your final destination.
You need visualization. Now you can start seeing where the pieces fit in. It keeps you on track towards your desired end result. Your life is no different. If you do not visualize your end desire, you will not reach it. Or as Stephen Covey has said, “Begin with the end in mind”.
Make a visualization board of the person you would like to be and all the things you would like to have and the places you would like to go. Do you want to travel and maybe see Paris? What car would you like to drive? Take a photo of it with you and put it on your board. Would you like to build a swimming pool? Do you want to go to Tahiti on the next Outrigger Trip? Do you want to remind yourself to eat healthy food? Do you want a happy marriage? Or maybe be the worlds greatest dad? Or get a trophy for winning a marathon or even just competing in a marathon! Are you wanting to be able to afford your dream house? Whatever your dreams are, put them here and look at them daily. Or maybe put them on your bathroom mirror or wherever is best for you. You might even put the visualization photo on your computer wallpaper so you see it ever time you are at your computer Your mind sees in pictures. That is your compass to direct you towards your goals.
Now, as you start laying out your goals, you are going to need “short range goals” and “long range goals”. Long range goal would be a” happy marriage” Baby step would be to say, “I love you” each day to your spouse and give her a kiss.
If your Long Range goal was to run or win a marathon Then your short Range goal would be to run each day and prepare for the event

Let me give you an example of “short range” goals. Your short range goals are like the headlights that you need to see in the dark as you drive your car home at night. You cannot see your final destination but the headlights help you see a short distance in front of you and as you reach each short range goal you advance to another short range goal as you continuously advance one step closer to your final goal and destination…HOME.

I had no idea what the future had in store for me. But I knew I was a child of God and had unlimited potential, as we all do. That day I knelt in prayer on that mountain side for the spirit of God to guide me to find the right people who could use my talents to benefit their business so I could provide for my family. I then stood and announced to the valley below me that I was here and someday people in this state would know who the Holdman’s were. I was going to make a difference! We started with nothing but my talents and my faith.

Many of our dreams came true before Tahitian Noni. We had a happy marriage, we had traveled the world. But we were not financial free. It was Tahitian Noni International that helped that part of our dream come true. And it came true by Ann and I telling the story. We had already visualized where we wanted to be. But it was telling the story that got us there.
I would like to close with an illustration called the “Daffodil Principle”. In California there is a mountainside home by Lake Arrowhead. Over several acres on the hillside, in the valleys, between the trees, there are what seems rivers of Daffodils and some Tulips.
Once a year in the spring the hillside comes alive with color and beauty. There appears to be over a million flowers and visitors come from all over to observe and appreciate this wonder of nature. Yet, at the heart of it all is one woman. As you stroll through this paradise you come upon a sign that reads as follows:
Answers to the questions I know you are asking:
The first answer was ”50,000 bulbs” The second was “ one at a time by One Woman – Two hands, Two Feet and one Brain” And the third was “ Started in 1958” One woman had created a place of inspiration to bring her vision of beauty and joy to an obscure mountaintop.
Planting one bulb at a time, year after year, this unknown woman had forever changed the world in which she lived. One day at a time, she had created something of extraordinary magnificence, beauty, and inspiration. The principle her daffodil garden teaches is one of the greatest principles of life. That is, learning to move toward our goals and desires one step at a time—sometimes just one baby-step at a time--and learning to love the doing, learning to use the accumulation of time. When we multiply tiny pieces of time with small elements of daily effort, we too will find we can accomplish magnificent things. We can change the world. You can change the world. What might you be able to accomplish over the next 5, 10, 20 or 40 years if you were to do just a little bit each day toward the accomplishment of your goals? One thing a day, 2 things or 5 things each day that would move you forward to where you want to be? Right now, today…what are you doing to better your life? Use the Daffodil Principle. Stop waiting… Until the weather is perfect. Until your children are grown. Until it is more convenient. Until you find the perfect spouse. Until you have more time. Until winter is over. Until summer is over. What have you been putting off? Start today… Start planting one bulb at a time. Do it now!
Here is what I have learned from the Daffodil Principle - Learning to love the doing, - learning to use the accumulation of time - learning to move toward our goals and desires one step at a time, (often just one baby-step at a time) Make the Daffodil principle a part of your life.
