4. TOOLS
- is an object designed to do a
specific kind of work such as cutting
or shopping by directing manually
applied force or by means of a motor
or computer.
5. 1. Cropping and slicing
a. crop- assists in creating a focus
point on an image and excluding
unnecessary or excess space.
b. slice- used to divide an image
into different sections
c. slice select tool- allows sliced
sections of an image to be
adjusted and shifted.
6. 2. Drawing
a. pen tool – creates precise paths that
can be manipulated using anchor
points.
a1. free form pen tool- allows the
user to draw paths freehand.
a2. magnetic pen tool- attaches the
drawn path closely to outline of
object in an image, which is useful
for isolating them from a
background.
7. 3. Painting
a. brush- used to retouch images by altering
and adding colored pixels.
b. pencil- allows the user to paint rough
strokes on the canvas, creating a similar
effect to a real pencil on paper.
c. gradient- fill and paint bucket tools are
similar to each other, as they reach fill
areas of the canvas w/ color
d. paint bucket- an area of an image based
on color similarity. Click anywhere in the
image and the paint bucket will fill an area
around the pixel you clicked.
8. 4. Measuring and Navigating
a. eyedropper tool- select a color from an
area of the image that is clicked, and
samples it for future use.
b. hand tool- navigates an image by
moving it in any direction and the zoom
tool enlarges the part of an image that
is clicked on, allowing for a closer view.
9. 5. Selection
a. marquee- make selection that are single
now, single row, single column, rectangular
and elliptical; a piece of text that scrolls
across a screen.
b. move tool- once an area of an image is
highlighted it can be used to manually
relocates the selected piece to anywhere
on the canvas
c. lasso tool- make magnetic and polygonal
selection.
10. 6. Typing - adding and editing text.
a. Type tool- create an area where
text can be entered
b. Type mask tool- create a
selection area that has the shape
of text.
11. 7. Retouching
a. clone stamp- samples a selected portion
of an image, and duplicate it over another
area using a brush that can be adjusted in
size, flow and opacity.
b. smudge- when dragged across part of an
image, stretches and smudges pixels as if
they are real paint, and the blur tool
softens portions of an image by lowering
the amount of detail w/ in the adjusted
image.
c. eraser- removes pixels from an image.
12. e. Burn & Dodge- are derived from
traditional method of adjusting the
exposure on printed photos, have
opposite effects, the burn tool
darkens selected areas, and the
dodge tool lightens them.
13. Activity #1 Simple Text Effect
Procedure :
Open a new document
1. type name as… group1
2. preset as default Photoshop size
3. click ok
Click on the HORIZONTAL TYPE tool
1. set font family to IMPACT
2. set font size to … 72pt.
3. set text color to … BLUE
Click on the Working area and type your text
Use the MOVE tool to move your text to the center. Press CTRL+T to
resize your text.
Right click on the Text layer and select BLENDING OPTION; a layer
style dialog box will appear.
1. click drop shadow: opacity = 50% angle= 90
2. click gradient overlay: opacity = 15%
3. click stroke: Color: white
Once done click OK.
Save your work in PSD and Jpeg format.
14. Activity #2
Change Background
Procedure:
1. Open an image to edit
2. Click on pen tool.. Select paths in the
option bar.
3. create a path around the object until
you reach the point where you stared.
4. right click inside the path and select
Make selection.
5. Go to Edit > Copy
6. open up anew image file then click Edit
> Paste.
7. Press Ctrl+T to resize the object to fit
on the new image file.
8. save you file. … group1..
9. Save your work in PSD and Jpeg format.
