2. P In the name of the Father,
and of the + Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
C Amen.
P Let us confess our sin in
the presence of God and of
one another.
3. P Gracious God,
C have mercy on us.
We confess that we have
turned from you and
given ourselves into the
power of sin.
We are truly sorry and
humbly repent.
4. In your compassion
forgive us our sins,
known and unknown,
things we have done
and things we have
failed to do.
5. Turn us again to you,
and uphold us by your Spirit,
so that we may live and
serve you in newness of life
through Jesus Christ, our
Savior and Lord.
Amen.
6. P Heaven rejoices when a
sinner repents
And a lost sheep is found.
In the mercy of almighty God,
Jesus Christ was given to die
for us,
and for his sake God forgives
us all our sins.
7. P As a called and ordained
minister of the church of
Christ,
and by his authority,
I therefore declare to you
the entire forgiveness of all
your sins,
8. P in the name of the Father,
and of the + Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
C Amen.
13. Fling wide the door, unbar the
gate;
the King of glory comes in state;
the Lord of lords and King of
kings,
the Savior of the world who brings
14. his great salvation to the earth.
So raise a shout of holy mirth
and praise our God and Lord,
Creator, Spirit, Word.
15. He is the rock of our belief,
the heart of mercy's gentle self.
His kingly crown is holiness;
his scepter is his loveliness;
16. he brings our sorrows to an end.
Now gladly praise our king and
friend,
and worship him with song
for saving us from wrong.
17. Oh, happy towns and blessed
lands
that live by their true king's
commands.
And blessed be the hearts he
rules,
the humble places where he
dwells.
18. He is the rightful Son of bliss
who fills our lives and makes
us his,
creator of the world,
our only strength for good.
19. Come, Lord, our Savior, Jesus
Christ;
our hearts are open wide in
trust.
Oh, show us now your lovely
grace,
upon our sorrows shine your
face,
20. and let your Holy Spirit guide
our journey in your grace so
wide.
We praise your holy name,
from age to age the same!
21. P The grace of our Lord Jesus
Christ, the love of God,
and the communion of the
Holy Spirit be with you all.
C And also with you.
22. Have mercy on us, Lord, and
hear our solemn prayer.
We come to hear your living
word; it saves us from despair.
23. Have mercy on us, Christ, and
wash away our sin.
Pour out your grace and make us
whole that new life may begin.
24. Have mercy on us, Lord, make
sin and shame depart.
Renew us with your saving
pow'r; create in us new hearts!
25. Glory be to God in heaven;
peace, goodwill to all the earth.
Mighty God of all creation,
Father of surpassing worth:
26. we exalt you, we adore you,
we lift high our thanks and
praise.
Saints and angels bow
before you; here on earth
our songs we raise.
27. Glory be to Christ forever,
Lamb of God and Lord of love.
Son of God and gracious
Savior, you have come from
heav'n above;
28. on the cross you died to save
us; now you reign at God's
right hand.
Hear our prayer; restore,
forgive us; in your promise firm
we stand.
29. Holy One we now acclaim you;
Lord alone, to you we call;
Holy One in faith we name you,
God most high, yet near to all:
30. Jesus Christ, with God the
Spirit, in the Father's splendor
bright.
For the peace that we inherit,
glory be to God on high!
31. P Let us pray.
Stir up your power, Lord
Christ, and come. By your
merciful protection save us from
the threatening dangers of
our sins,
32. P and enlighten our walk in
the way of your salvation,
for you live and reign with
the Father and the Holy
Spirit, one God, now and
forever.
C Amen.
34. L The earth is the Lord's and all
that is in it,
the world and those who
dwell therein.
C For the Lord has founded it
upon the seas
and established it upon the
rivers.
35. L Who may ascend the
mountain of the Lord,
and who may stand in
God's holy place?
C Those of innocent hands
and purity of heart,
who do not swear on
God's being, nor do they
pledge by what is false.
36. L They shall receive blessing
from the Lord
and righteousness from the
God of their salvation.
C Such is the generation of
those who seek you, O Lord,
of those who seek your face,
O God of Jacob.
37. L Lift up your heads, O gates;
and be lifted up, O
everlasting doors,
that the King of glory may
come in.
C Who is this King of glory?
The Lord, strong and
mighty, the Lord, mighty in
battle!
38. L Lift up your heads, O gates;
and be lifted up, O everlasting
doors,
that the King of glory may
come in.
C Who is this King of glory?
Truly, the Lord of hosts is
the King of glory.
40. Alleluia! Lord and Savior: open
now your saving word.
Let it burn like fire within us;
speak until our hearts are stirred.
Alleluia! Lord, we sing for the
good news that you bring.
41. P The holy gospel according to
Matthew.
C Glory to you, O Lord.
45. Brightest and best of the stars
of the morning,
dawn on our darkness and lend
us your aid.
Star of the east, the horizon
adorning,
guide where our infant
redeemer is laid.
46. Cold on his cradle the
dewdrops are shining;
low lies his head with the
beasts of the stall;
angels adore him in slumber
reclining,
maker and monarch and savior
of all.
47. What shall we give him, in
costly devotion?
Shall we bring incense and
off'rings divine,
gems of the mountain and
pearls of the ocean,
myrrh from the forest or gold
from the mine?
48. Vainly we offer each ample
oblation,
vainly with gifts would his
favor secure;
richer by far is the heart's
adoration,
dearer to God are the prayers
of the poor.
49. Brightest and best of the stars
of the morning,
dawn on our darkness and lend
us your aid.
Star of the east, the horizon
adorning,
guide where our infant
redeemer is laid.
50. We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
51. We believe in one Lord,
Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten
of the Father,
52. God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father;
through him all things were made.
53. For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
was incarnate of the Holy Spirit
and the virgin Mary
and became truly human.
54. For our sake he was crucified
under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was
buried.
55. On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the
scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand
of the Father.
56. He will come again in glory to
judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no
end.
57. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the
Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father
and the Son,
who with the Father and the
Son is worshiped and glorified,
who has spoken through the
prophets.
58. We believe in one holy catholic
and apostolic church.
We acknowledge one baptism
for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of
the dead, and the life of the
world to come. Amen.
59. L Waiting for the fulfillment of
our hope in Christ's promised
coming, we pray for the church,
those in need, and all of God's
creation.
81. C O Lord, now let your servant
depart in heav'nly peace,
for I have seen the glory
of your redeeming grace:
82. C A light to lead the nations
unto your holy hill,
the glory of your people,
your chosen Israel.
83. L Let us pray.
God for whom we wait,
in this meal you give us a
foretaste of that day
when the hungry will be fed
with good things.
84. L Send us forth to make known
your deeds and to proclaim
the greatness of your name,
through Jesus Christ, our
Savior and Lord.
C Amen.
85. L Gracious God,
whose mercy endures from
generation to generation:
As Mary set out to visit
Elizabeth before she gave birth
to her son, bless those who go
forth to share your word and
sacrament with our sisters and
brothers.
86. L In your love and care, nourish
and strengthen them,
that through the body and
blood of your Son we may all
know the hope of your promised
coming in
Jesus Christ our Lord.
C Amen.
