Assure method objective
1. ASSURE Method
Based on Gagne's Events of Instruction
The ASSURE model is helpful for designing courses using different kinds of media. This model
assumes that instruction will not be delivered using lecture/text book only. It allows for the
possibility of incorporating out-of-class resources and technology into the course materials. This
model will be especially helpful for instructors designing online courses.
This model emphasizes:
Teaching to students with different Learning Styles, and
Constructivist learning where students are required to interact with their environment
and not passively receive information.

Assure Method Assignment
1-Teaching the months of the year to a 1st
grade class, Special ed, 10 boys, 7 girls, 70% white
20% African-American and 10% Hispanic.7 students in the class have mild to severe ADHD
(attention deficit hyperactivity disorder).
A-Analyze Learners
-In this 1st
grade Special Education class there are 10 boys and 7 girls. 70% of them
are white, 20% African-American and 10% Hispanic.7 students in the class have mild
to severe ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder).
S- State Objectives
-The students will have 100% accuracy of reciting the months of the year by the end
of the week through the use of a song and putting themselves in order by the notecard of
the month that they are holding
S- Select Methods and Media and Materials
- The students will be grouped into teams of 4 and one group of 5 to make up sets of
cards displaying the names of the months. They will then make a card to represent each
month of the year that they will put in order as they hear the song played in class.
U- Utilize Media and Materials
-The song will be played to the class so that they are aware of what it will be like when
they actually go to put the months in order. The students will have the materials available
to them and be given the opportunity at another class time to prepare their cards for the
song. They will then put it all together after they have finished preparing their cards.
R- Require Learner Participation
-The students will recite the months all together as the song is playing and will recite
them in their small groups so that they are able to help one another if anyone happens to
be struggling with reciting the months correctly. We will have follow-up lessons in class
to inform the students of different times of year and things that go along with each month
of the year.
E-Evaluate and Revise
-Before we begin the actual recitation of the months with the song, I will play the song
for the students to hear so that they can become familiar with it. We will start out the day
3. with this each day so that they have plenty of opportunity to learn it. The students will
discuss any problems they have in their small groups and ask me questions as needed to
ensure that they are fully aware of what is expected of them. The students will recite the
months to each other for practice each day to get plenty of repetition. They will then all
recite the months together with the song. After the activity, we will continue to listen to
the song the first and last day of each week to keep the months fresh in their minds. After
we have completed this process, we will discuss as a class any problems or obstacles that
came up along the way.
