CoSMo is an open-source Java ME mobile application for viewing conference schedules on devices. The project aims to provide an intuitive interface to see event schedules, session details, bookmarks and reminders. The developer is seeking help from the community to improve the UI, add features like schedule synchronization and surveys, and fix bugs. A demo showed the Devoxx schedule on a phone.

What is this ?!? A Java ME based mobile application to show in your device the full schedule of conferences and events in general.

Project Time Line 2007 – Sep.: Developent of JustJava Mobile 2008 – Jan: CoSMo release for M3DD @ Sun Labs 2009 – July: CoSMo release for M3DD @ Goiania 2009 – Oct.: Release for Open TDC (Florianópolis) - Nov: CoSMo project was created under Java.net repository 2009 – Sep.: CoSMo release for JustJava 2009 2008 – Oct: CoSMo release for JustJava 2008 TODAY: Proj. presentation @ Devoxx 2009

Features available Event schedule by day. Two visualization ways: Full day schedule. Day part-time view. Session and speaker details. Bookmark your favorite sessions. Next sessions on application start-up.

Strong points Intuitive and simple UI. Just high-level LCDUI components. Compatible with almost devices: MIDP 2.0 & CLDC 1.1 Easy to install and distribute it.

To improve… UI refactor to use LWUIT and Canvas. Event schedule parser. Synchronization stuffs. Bluetooth communication between users.

Roadmap UI improvement (on going). WS to receive/update events schedule. Sessions evaluation survey. Sessions reminder. Business card “exchanger”. Bluetooth synchronization and advertisement.

How to help Using CoSMo in your event. Developing any item from roadmap. Server-side developers are (very) welcome! Fixing bugs ;-)
