Map Mom Dad
Mothers Side Grandparents : Maria Juana Guardado , Antonio Gutierrez Mom: Sara Gutierrez My grandparents have lived their whole life's in Chalatenango ; they would meet in Chalatenango, they got married at the age of 18 and moved in together my grandparents mother would die and leave a large amount of land for him and this is where he would build his home and raise cattle to be able to sustain his family He would Have cows that he would be able to milk so he would be able to sell the milk to have some sort of income. Other incomes: my grandma and her daughters made pans to sell; they would also cook foods that they would be able to sell around the community Currently My grandparents are still alive and healthy they live in El Salvador in Chalatenango.
Fathers Side Grandparents :Maria Canales, ?????? Father: Juan Canales My Grandparents I do not know to much about because my grandma would die at the age of 35 because of cancer My dad never really knew his real father was. Source of income: was working for other people around the pueblo ; helping them with cattle , also they would go to large farms and cut sugar canes down.
Mothers story Was Born in January 13, 1959 Lived in the city of Chalatenango for part of her life My mom would leave her home city at the age of 12 since there was more urbanization going on in the capital there was much more opportunity there so she would begin to work in the capital which is san Salvador she would clean homes when she started and she would do this for a couple of years after she would become a cook in one of these homes During this time she wild travel to the pueblo once a week and take the money that she made and give it to her parents so that they would be able to buy what was needed at home
Mother Story Cont….. Eventually she would work in a fast food restaurant where she would cook hamburgers. And hot dogs. There would be a lot of internal migration for my mother in search of a better life in her own country, but there was only a certain point where she could prosper Eventually in search for a better life, and hearing that coming to America she would make more money there was more economic opportunity and live a better life she would make her journey to the united states of America she would arrive in America in 1984 and land in the sate of California, she came to California because she had family living here he would be living in los Angeles.
Mother story Cont……. The job that she would obtain while living in America was as a maid she would work for one of john Wayne's daughter for about two years When she met my father she would move to Ontario Now she lives in Pomona has not moved to other states and does not plan on doing so.
Fathers Story Born in February 27, 1961 Lived in Morazán For small amount of time Knew Who his father was but his father denied being his dad Was really poor so growing up did not have much to eat he would have to hunt down some of his food if there was not enough food they would eat things such as Garrobos, pigeons, rabbits , fish and other things. His mom would die when he was 13 years old due to cancer , he would have to move in with his sister, but his sisters husband did not want him there so was forced out of their home He would be going from home to home for about a year not having a stable home he decided to leave his pueblo to find a job because he had no source of income and no stable home He would go to Santa Anabecause they would have large fields of sugar cane that needed to be cut down and they would pay decent ; if a workers was able to cut a lot he would get decent money So at the age of 14he would begin working at cutting sugar canes he would work cutting sugar canes for about a year
Food Yummy
Fathers Story Cont….. at the age of 15 would be working for the government he would dig holes with shovels so thy these would later get turned into roads He would begin to work for coca cola for a brief moment he would deliver the product to local store.  This is where he would meet someone that was able to obtain him a job as a conductor. Being a conductor he would be able to obtain much more money than he would working for coca cola He would live more better because he would receive his payment from the bus driver and he would also steal so he would have some extra money in his pockets now he was able to eat better and have a stable home He would do this until the age of about 23 until the civil war in el Salvador would become a big problem and it was to dangerous to be living in el Salvador
Fathers Story Cont…. He would face to many near death experiences where they would rob the money that they had made that day and threatened to kill them if they did not give it to them Many of his friends that would also work in this field would die around this time because there were many killings going on. Fearing that he might also die he decided that he would come to America to avoid the possibility of death 1985 he would make this choice. He would come to California and land in Los angels having no family the first couple of months we're really a struggle not able to find a job and living in the streets for the first couple of days he would eventually find a job delivering news paper he would do this for a small amount of time until he would be able to find a factory job once he had found this factory job he moved to the city of Ontario where he would live in apartments after a small time of living there he would eventually meet my mother and they would begin there relationship Now he lives in Pomona with no plans of moving anywhere else , plans of staying in America are long.
Civil War in El Salvador The civil war would not officially begin until about 1980-1992, but it had started about 1975 where you could see that it was starting to begin where small guerillas would begin to form in pueblos and talks of a revolution begin to surface El Salvador would try to stop this revolution by forming Revolutionary Government Junta of El Salvador, but this would have no success The Major Guerrilla group that would form in El Salvador would be the group known as FMLN They would go into the pueblos and recruit people so that they would go against the government
Civil War Cont… This war would be on a much larger scale than believed it was fought on the context of the cold war, where Cuba and Ussr where supporting all of the left wings guerillas and the US was supporting the government of El Salvador These countries would provide weapons to these different sides so that one would win the war Children as young as the age of 10 or 11 would have to join the army or the guerilla Sometimes there would be killings on confusion that was happening on who was on what side There would even be problems within families that were on different sides This war would cause about 75,000 deaths and would create many problems in el Salvador This would create much fluctuation into America of El Salvadorimmigrants because the people of El Salvador did not want to be in danger of dying.
Civil War Cont… The effects of the war are still visible in El Salvador The Government Is a very weak El Salvador is still a very dangerous place The Gang MS-13 was believed to be formed because of the war ; and the cruel killings of these gangs are associated with killings that were done while the civil war was happenings The government would eventually form a peace treaty with the guerilla movement
