10. Depending on a persons view there is a lot of “moderate violence” however some may view this as “strong violence”- if I was rating this film I would have rated it a 15 for this reason because the violence is frequent. 12A/12- Suitable for 12 years and over It means that the material is suitable for only aged 12 and over can could upset those younger however when the movie is in cinemas a person younger then 12 can see it without being accompanied with an adult. The 12 is for when selling the movie and cannot be sold to those younger. Discrimination- Such discrimination should be condoned and not be endorsed as a whole. Drugs- Can contain misuse of drugs but this should not be glamorized Horror- Physical and Psychological threat can be shown but these scene should be infrequent and not very long. Imitable Behaviour- Weapons can be shown but not glamorized. Also dangerous behaviour such as hanging or suicide shouldn't be shown in detail to be copied. Language- Strong bad language can be used but this should be very infrequent. Moderate language can be used. Nudity- Can show nudity but when used in a sexual context it has to be brief and very discreet. Sex- Sexual activity can be briefly and discreetly be shown however shouldn't go beyond what is known to be suitable for young teenagers. Theme- A 12 film can show mature theme but should be shown in a way that suitable for young teens. Violence-Moderate violence is permitted but there should be no emphasis on the injuries or blood.
11.
12. Contains strong threat especially at the end where the killer is trying to trap his victim
15. The Violence is strong but could also be seen as moderate because most is shown nearer the end of the film.
16. I think the only thing making this film a 15 is the use of strong language and the strong horror at the end.15- Suitable for 15 years old and up No one under the age of 15 is allowed to go see the film or buy it. Discrimination- The film must not promote discriminatory language or behaviour. Drugs- You can show drugs being used in the film but you are not allowed to promote it. Drugs that are accessible to the audience such as solvents are not likely to be acceptable. Horror- Strong threat and menace are allowed unless it is sadistic or sexualised. Imitable Behaviour-Dangerous behaviour such as suicide should not be shown in detail so it cannot be copied. Weapons hat are easily accessible to the audience should not be glamorized. Language- You can have frequent strong language but the strongest bad language terms, for example “cunt” can not be used frequently. Nudity- Nudity is permitted n a sexual context however there cannot be any strong detail. Sex- You can portray sexual activity but without strong detail. Theme- Any theme can be a 15 but only if its appropriate for 15 year olds. . Violence-Violence can be strong but shouldn't dwell on the infliction of pain and injury. There may be detailed verbal references to sexual violence but any portrayal of sexual violence must be discreet and have a strong contextual justification
17.
18. The horror is also very strong and is not a typical 15 movie
19. Frequent use of bad language is used but not the “strongest”
20. The audience sees a lot of blood but from looking at 15 certification you hardly see any. 18-Suitable for 18 years old and up only In line with the consistent findings of the BBFC’s public consultations and The Human Rights Act 1998, at ‘18’ the BBFC’s guideline concerns will not normally override the principle that adults should be free to choose their own entertainment. Exceptions are most likely in the following areas: • where the material is in breach of the criminal law, or has been created through the commission of criminal offence • where material or treatment appears to the BBFC to risk harm to individuals or, through their behaviour, to society – for example, any detailed portrayal of violent or dangerous acts, or of illegal drug use, which may cause harm to public health or morals. This may include portrayals of sexual or sexualised violence which might, for example, eroticise or endorse sexual assault • where there are more explicit images of sexual activity which cannot be justified by context. Such images may be appropriate in ‘R18’ works, and in ‘sex works’ would normally be confined to that category. In the case of video works (including video games), which may be more accessible to younger viewers, intervention may be more frequent than for cinema films.
21. Our Film I say our film should be certified 15 because it does contain strong horror threat and menace which is permitted. However we don't dwell on the pain or injury we mostly show the aftermath or from a distance as mentioned in our treatment if we didn't then it would most likely be an 18. A Hanging is shown in our movie, however is isn't a suicide. We would not show this is detail but only the aftermath, someone finding the two characters hanging. Also this would most likely be suggested rather then a full on view of them both. Strong language would be used frequently but none of the strongest terms are used which makes it below an 18. The main weapon is a knife but we are not glamorizing it therefore sticking within the certificate 15 boundaries. No discriminatory language or drug use is going to shown.
