Week’s Academics
I have modified the 2-5-8 assignment so that it lines
up with what we have been learning during our EBLI
lessons. Please make sure words are practiced this
week!
Reading
Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH is at an exciting point!
Last week Mrs. Frisby learned about the laboratory at
NIMH, where the rats were tested with injections to
increase their ability to learn. We learned about using
a maze and electric shock as well! I hope to finish the
book right after Thanksgiving!
Writing
This week we will begin a new writing unit. Students
will be writing persuasive letters. I am excited for
students to share their personalities and their great
reasoning strategies! Our unit should last 3 weeks.
Math
We will be taking our first fraction test on Thursday!
We will be testing fractions of a dollar, fractions of a
set, and remaining fractions. There will be a few story
problems as well.
Social Studies Our economics unit has been going
great! We are getting ready for the 4th grade
craft/bake sale! That will be on Dec. 3rd. We have
worked on shirt designs and have lots of great ideas
Care to Join Us?
We would like to celebrate our personal
narrative writing by having a little writer’s
celebration next week on Wed. Nov. 26th. If
you would like to come upstairs and enjoy
meeting with our authors we plan to have a
little celebration from 8:15-8:45.
Check out our class blog at

AR Goals- This week we should be at 30% of
our AR goal. Book-It will be awarded to
students at 30% on Nov. 26.
Free-Out-Of-Uniform- Our class has decided
to enjoy our FREE out-of-uniform day on
Wed. We will also enjoy a movie reward in
the afternoon. We plan to watch Monsters
University. This is our reward for winning
the food drive!
Conference Thanks- I wanted to thank you
for taking time to meet with me last week!
Book Orders- Book orders are due tomorrow,
Nov. 19. You can order online using our class
code: HB2QM at scholastic.com/bookclubs
Craft and Bake Sale- We could really use
parent help during the sale on Dec. 3rd.
Students will be taking money and making
change at their booth, and it is helpful to have
extra adults to monitor. If you could help let
me know!
Cougar Den- I would love to have adult
volunteers to assist with merchandise and
helping students make change. Our store
will be on Dec. 11th from 1-3:15. Would you
be able to come in and help?
