Target Audience Research Natasha Marlow
My Target Audience For my music magazine I want it to be centred around the music genre of ‘Indie’. I want it to be focused for people who like this genre of music but also people who have a genuine passion for music, both new and old. I hope that my target audience research reflects this and tells me what my target audience will want from the magazine.

Analysis and Reflection Findyourtribe.co.uk is a website that you can use to find out what social click you fit into.  It calculates this by asking you a series of questions like what magazines you read, what you do online and what sort of music you like.  This has been a useful tool in discovering what the real target market for my music magazine will be; I answered the questions in a way that would be done by my target audience.  This meant that it came out as being ‘Indie Scenester’, this was the sort of area I was aiming for my magazine so I think it has been very successful in helping to reiterate that. The information given about ‘indie scenesters’ will help me with the rest of the content in my magazine.  It means I need to have a bit of content about clothing and fashion.  It also tells me that my magazine should be weekly as apposed to monthly or other as this way it is more up to date and it means that my audience have more chance of keeping ahead of the game. The main thing that I got from doing this exercise is that my magazine might need to be frequent in order to keep my audience up to date with what’s going on, in fashion as well as the music.
Market Research Questionnaire
My questionnaire On the following slides I have given the questions featured in my questionnaire and the responses I received.  I have put the results into a graph as well for easier reading.
Analysis and Reflection I made this questionnaire to find out some more information that will help me produce my music magazine.  I thought of 8 questions that I felt would help me with making my music magazine and then asked the people in my class to answer them for me. I want the genre of my magazine to be ‘indie’ and for this to be the type of music that my target audience like.  The questionnaire wasn’t very useful to me because many of the people that I asked did not fit into my target audience, meaning that they wanted different things for the magazine than my target audience would want.  However I did get some good general information for what sort of content to put into my magazine, like making sure I feature interviews with popular bands/artists. To make my questionnaire more useful to me I should have asked more people who fit into my target audience.  This would have given me a better idea of what my target audience would want from a new music magazine, enabling me to focus my magazine better towards my target market and making it more personal to them.
