Windows Explorer allows you to view file properties by right-clicking and selecting Properties. The Search feature helps find files and folders using the Search button or Start menu. The Search window has two panes - the Search Companion lists search options and results appear in the right pane. Various criteria can be used for searching, like name, date, type or size. Wildcards can substitute characters when searching for file names.

4. The Search Window The Search Companion pane provides the ability to search on various criteria including the name of the object, a word or phrase in the file or folder, the modified date, the file/folder type, or the size of a file.
