HAP has a long history of engaging with homelessness issues and providing housing and shelter options. This includes developing homeless shelters in the 1990s and more recently focusing on permanent supportive housing. HAP participates in the City/County Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness and provides various types of housing assistance like short term rent assistance, Section 8 vouchers, and public housing units dedicated to supportive housing. Current projects include agency based rent assistance programs, short term rent assistance, and permanent supportive housing units integrated into affordable housing properties. Looking ahead, HAP aims to create a more unified homelessness system and increase connections between short and long term housing subsidies.
