Sling Psycrometer By: Stephen Shelly and Aubrey Schoen
How it works 		A sling psycrometer has to thermometers. One of thermometers stays dry, while the other is covered in water. The thermometer that was in the water is spun around so some of the water will evaporate. When this process is complete the more amount of water that evaporates the less humidity. By comparing the thermometers you can use a chart called the psychometric chart to measure the humidity.
What it looks like
Sling psycrometers have two thermometers next to each other and one has water to make it wet. Then you swing the thermometers by holding onto the handles. The water evaporates and the amount of evaporation can help scientists find the amount of humidity.
History/Inventor The Sling Psychrometer was invented by James Hutton in the late 1700’s.  However, the instrument didn’t get it’s name until 1818, as the word psychrometer was not made up until then by Ernst August.   Info from www.ask.com
What It’s Used for 	Sling Psychrometers are used to measure the amount of water vapor, or the humidity, in the air.  Humidity effects how quickly water can evaporate from surfaces like the road.  Meteorologists can use the amount of water vapor in the air to determine how comfortable it will feel outside.
