4. Long, long ago, when Prince Boleslaw Wstydliwy was the ruler of Poland , he decided to ask the princess of Hungary - Kinga to marry him

6. So he sent a message the court of the Hungarian king and ordered to give an engagement ring to the princess Kinga. She agreed to become a Polish queen

7. King a 's father wanted to give her gold and jewels as dowry, but the princess said that this would not be good , because the Polish king was wealthy

8. Kinga's father ask ed her : ’ So what dowry do you want my daughter? ’ The princess after some thought asked her father to g i ve them salt

Kinga removed her engagement ring from Boleslaw and threw him into the shaft of the mine in Marumureszand Soon Kinga went to the court of King Boleslaw After several days, seeking to find her dowry, she asked her husband to show her kingdom and they came together with nobles and servants Soon Kinga told to stop and directed her servants to dig in t he ground

12. One of the peasants gave Kinga white piece of rock, which was a lump of salt. She o rdered to split it and her engagement ring fell out of the lump.

14. Since then,the mine in Wieliczka is famous for its rich salt deposits. Princess Kinga long and wisely ruled the Polish people.
