2. Brahma
• Creator of the Trinity of Gods
• Grew out of Vishnu’s navel
• Controls Night and Day
• Created world by making himself in a man half
(Brahma) and a female half (Gayatri)
• Has 4 heads, used to have 5 but lied to Vishnu
causing Vishnu to remove his head
• The 4 Vedas came from each of his heads.
3. Vishnu
• Preserver and Protector God of the trinity
• Embodiment of mercy, and goodness
• Has 4 arms
• In these arms he holds a conch or Sankha, Disc
of Vaijira, a club and lotus or Padma
• Also carries a bow and a sword
• Vishnu reincarnates as a human to help settle
disputes in many Hindu tales

4. Shiva
• Destroyer god of the trinity
• Responsible for death and destruction
• God of yogis
• Holds a trident which represents the 3 Gunas:
Essence, Activity and Inertia
• Has snakes that show he is more powerful
than death and poison
5. Krishna
• 8th reincarnation of Vishnu
• Embodiment of love and divine joy
• Protector of sacred cows
• She is a trickster and lover
• Plays a large role in Mahabharata as Vishnu’s
reincarnation, and is the center of many tales
6. Lakshmi
• Shiva’s wife at first
• She left Shiva for Vishnu
• Goddess of light, beauty, good fortune and
wealth.
• According to Hindu stories, she ended up with
Vishnu because Brahma and Shiva had already
claimed wifes
