1. On the first poster, the use of
a wobbly white circle bright
glow represents a circle of
danger. This shows the audience
that the phrase "the ring"
circled in the middle of the
circle determines many
sayings about it. With just a
black background, the words
“the ring" in white and a
wobbly circle shows signs of a
horror movie. The use of
handwritten informal font
also strengthens the idea that
this is a horror film.
The second poster shows "THE RING" in capitalized formal font to grab the audiences attention. Also the
text is a little distorted to emphasize a scary horrific atmosphere surrounding the text. This technique
enables the audience to imagine an uncomfortable scenery if they watch the film. The use of the woman
as the text color represents a seriousness in the horror film. Light blue, dark blue, white and black shades
of the setting with just a well in the middle of the film represents the danger of that well. This shows the
audience that the well will be a main setting in the film. The significance of the woman's body expression
as a screaming woman amplifies the fact this is most likely a horror film.

2. This is a close up of the woman's face to express and
extract her emotions. In this scene, the woman hears
her son say "I watched The Ring" which is why the
shot from the woman's close up to the close up to the
ringing telephone is significant. Her body expressions
show a distressed uncomfortable feeling representing
a sense of the build up of something happening. The
next shot is a medium to a close up of the phone to
represent the importance of the phone. It shows the
audience that the phone is one of the main props used
in the film as a couple of seconds was used to film the
film.
In these 3 shots, it demonstrates a range of close ups
to identify the actor's expression. I have noticed in this
horror trailer, more close-ups are used more than any
other type of shot e.g. medium, wide, long etc. The
three examples to the right just show the same person
in a horrific position via misc-en-scene. Shot numbered
1 was used as the title text for the poster "The Ring". I
think this was a good choice as this picture represented
a series of enigmas (such as what is this film about?
Why is she screaming? What's going to happen next?
and vice versa).
