Your
job…is
to
remind
everyone

the
important
events
in
the
section
you
read.
The
Super
Summarizer
looks
for
Key
Events,
parts
that
are
important
to
the
story.
The
trick
is
to
separate
important
events
from
the
unimportant
ones.
The
unimportant
events
really
don’t
change
the
course
of
the
story
much.
Make
sure
you:
1) Use
sticky
notes
to
mark
Key
Events
while
reading
your
section
2) List
the
4
or
5
most
important
Key
Events
(a
list
is
not
sentences)
3) Write
a
summary
paragraph
using
the
Key
Events
list
and
order
words
such
as:
First, next, after,
just then, at that point, finally, at last…
4) Write
a
sentence
predicting
what
might
happen
next.
Example:

In the beginning of Hatchet, Brian is going to fly in a small airplane to visit his Dad in Canada. His
parents are divorced and he blames his mom for causing the divorce. During the flight, he is angry at his mom
for meeting a new man and hoping that his parents will get back together. Just then, the pilot has a heart
attack and Brian manages to grab the wheel to keep from crashing.
I think that he will talk to another pilot on the radio and manage to land in the forest.
