 Induction is carried out to provide a new
employee with the information he/she needs
to function comfortably and effectively in the
organization’s needs and
 Explaining the new recruit about
organization's policies, work rules and
employee benefits

 Opportunity to use special aptitude on his
educational background
 Challenges and adventure
 Opportunity to be creative and original

Information conveyed
 It conveys three type of information:
1. General information about the daily work
routine
2. A review of firm’s history, founding
fathers, objectives, operations, products and
services
3. Explaining as to how the employee’s job
contribute to the organization needs

Purpose of orientation
 The purpose of orientation is to make the
new employees feel ‘at home’ in the new
environment
 Further induction reduces the anxiety of new
employees by providing them information
about job environment and on supervisors, by
introducing the co-workers, and by
encouraging them to ask questions

Requisite of an effective
programme
 Prepare the new employee
 Determine information new employee want
to know
 Determine how to present the information
 Completion of formalities and paper work
