We will be building an e-commerce shopping network using WordPress and MarketPress from WPMU DEV.
We will need: - WordPress 3.2.1 (Installed in Network Mode) - MarketPress 2.2 - FrameMarket 1.4.2 - 15 minutes of your time :) - FTP Client - WAMP/LAMP
I’m not going to spend much time here. Download WordPress from http://wordpress.org / and upload to the server and follow the instructions on screen. Once installed add “define('WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE', true);” to wp-config.php and go to ‘Administration’ > ‘Tools’ > ‘Network Setup’. Then follow the instructions on the screen. For the demonstration lets use subdirectory install :)
Download MarketPress Upload using ‘Add Plugin’ in ‘Network Admin’ > ‘Plugins’ Activate MarketPress Go to ‘Settings’ > ‘MarketPress’ to configure network options. Select ‘Yes’ under ‘General Settings’ > ‘Enable Global shopping cart’ there. Under ‘Gateway Permissions’ select gateways you wish to activate. With PayPal chained payments you can get a cut of the transactions processed through your network :) . If you choose PayPal chained payments remember to configure the settings as well. Get your users to go to ‘Site Admin’ > ‘Products’ > ‘Store Settings’ to configure site settings. Make sure they set the vendor’s PayPal e-mail address. Go to ‘Products’ > ‘Create New’ to add new products
Download FrameMarket Upload using ‘Add New’ in ‘Network Admin’ > ‘Appearance’ Network Activate FrameMarket Activate FrameMarket from ‘Site Admin’ > ‘Appearance’ > ‘Themes’. If you want the list of shops/blogs appear in each store remember to select ‘Yes’ under ‘Appearance’ > ‘Theme Options’ > ‘Set up your theme’ > ‘Show shop picker’
