Assmang Limited’s Beeshoek Iron Ore Mine, situated approximately 7
kilometres west of Postmasburg in the Northern Cape (+/-200km west from
Kimberley), requires the services of an:
Assistant Training Officer Induction
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Grade 12;
Certificate in Education, Training & Developmental Practices Assessors;
Certificate in Train the Trainer;
Minimum of one (1) year training and facilitation experience;
Minimum of one (1) year operational discipline specific experience;
Minimum of six (6) months data capturing experience
A valid code B/EB drivers license.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
System skills in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook;
Knowledge of training methodologies;
Must have the ability to plan, organise, lead and control;
Must poses administrative, liaising, coaching and business English communication skills;
Knowledge of document control and filling;
Knowledge of standard procedures and codes of good practice.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS INCLUDE, INTER ALIA:
Adhere to all applicable safety, health and environmental practices and procedures;
Support and assist with change initiatives;
Generate own ideas and implement approved mini projects;
Develop and maintain productive relations with internal and external customers;
Develop and coach others and develop yourself through personal continuous development;
Coordinate and facilitate induction programmes according to the annual training schedule;
Coordinate induction logistics and administration to ensure the smooth rollout of training;
Update existing training manuals, conduct assigned induction and implement best practice training
methods and training material;
Conduct quality checks on assessment process and assessment documentation;
Publish and conduct computer based assessments;
Review current training material, recommend changes and supply information to ensure alignment with
legislative standards and industry best practice ;
Liaise with relevant department to understand technology developments and its impact on training
material and training needs;
Maintain training database systems continuously;
Conduct organisational training needs analysis and liaise with stakeholders in order to compile the
annual training budget and schedule it accordingly;
Monitor training systems on a ongoing basis to ensure compatibility with other discipline specific
programs and make recommendations to line management regarding changes to be implemented;
Update training skills matrix and learning management system to reflect current data;
Report on induction and learner progress and recommend corrective actions;
In consultation with line managers, assist in determining training needs for operational employees in
areas of responsibility;
Identify, manage and review performance improvement and developmental plans;
Attend incident and accident investigations in order to determine the training needs following the
findings and make appropriate recommendations;
Conduct in task assessments and evaluations to determine learner and operator competence and
adherence to standards;
2. Develop action plans where remedial action is required;
Compile progress, compliance and non conformance reports and submit it to line management;
Issue machinery licenses to competent operators and monitor the validity thereof;
Terminate licenses issued if safety standards are compromised by operator;
Ad hoc, any other reasonable duties as and when requested from time to time.
Appointment: Remuneration will be based on a competitive all-inclusive flexible package.
Probation Period: 6 months
The successful incumbent will be appointed subject to being certified medically fit as per the Mine Health and
Safety Act 29/1996 and meeting the requirements of the Company’s Code of Practice – Minimum Standards
of Fitness to perform work at a Mine. He/she may also undergo a psychometric assessment.
The abovementioned position is C2 on the Patterson grading system.
