6. Intellectual property refers the creation of mind
which depends on one’s intellectual ability. IPR
is the rights obtained by a person or a company
to use, sell and protect his own invention. IPR
provides security to one’s intellectual property
and protects one’s exclusive innovation from
illegal usages. It encourages people to new
innovations and ensures the consumers to get
original products. IPR helps to economic and
social developments.

15. Though IPR has many advantages, it has criticized from
some angle. IPRs ensure a person to conduct monopoly
business which may be a cause of high price of a
particular product or service or any other intellectual
things.
It is impossible to the people of list developed countries
such as Bangladesh to buy or import original books and
software from foreign countries with unbearable price.
So, if prohibited to piracy of foreign books and software,
the higher education will become dream to the students
of LDCs, and the technological and medical development
will be deadlock.

17. Although IP laws exist in BD, these are disobeyed in many
ways. Software, music & books piracy rate is high. 92%
software in BD are pirated that’s MV is $147 million. 5% -
10% of total music market consist of legal sales. 90%-
95% music are illegally distributed in market that causes
losses of $180 million. 80% text books in BD are pirated
where 86% foreign books. These books’ MV $600 million.
