Online Payment Proposal
 To facilitate online purchase and download of
the magazine worldwide
 To broaden the reach of the magazine
 Use minimal user involvement
 Use minimal security risks
 Use minimal administrative efforts
 Use faster deployment time
 Phase 1
◦ Acquire a merchant account at a bank with the most
convenient terms and costs
◦ Build an online store to show the issue(s) ready for
download
◦ Use different marketing channels to promote the
new service
 Phase 2
◦ Use customers database for future promotional
campaigns
◦ Some limited access can be provided at lower costs
 Due to the limitation by the bank on
transaction size, we need to make each
transaction include at least 5 issues
(assuming issue price of $1.5)
 To achieve variable cost breakeven, sales
must exceed $30 monthly (4 purchases each
at $7.5)
 To meet minimum purchase, we can:
◦ Allow purchase of multiple historical issues
◦ Allow subscription for new issues
 Either option, we need a form of customer
identity so that her purchase is kept active
 The most recommended identity is an email
address (may or may not require verification)
 Email addresses can be used for notification
of new issues and/or other marketing
purposes
 The launch of the service must follow a big
marketing campaign (fashion sites, search
engines, facebook, printed ads, etc.)
 Current web site might need some
modifications to be more accessible by
different browsers and devices over different
connection speeds
 There is no special technical constraints as
for database type and/or technology used
(more confirmation after consulting the
current web hosting company and the bank)
 The current hosting is convenient for the
forecasted traffic (more confirmation needed
hostgator.com)
 For visual compatibility, cooperation of
magazine graphic designer will be of major
importance
 The built module must contain these
functionalities:
◦ Show available issues
◦ Shopping cart (history issues or subscribe for new)
◦ User login area that contain all purchases
◦ Upload new issues by back-end
◦ Monitor and follow-up purchases
 Optional features
◦ Multi-lingual
◦ Wish list
◦ Send to a friend (via email)
◦ Tell a friend
 Two execution models
◦ Detailed specification execution
 Less interaction and intervention
 One lump-sum fixed-cost
◦ Close and cooperative execution
 Continuous feedback on bi-weekly basis
 Earlier time-to-market
 Time-and-material contract
