Then move to EDUCON slide where Areas nicely capture important themes. (advance slide) First, all engineering educators are working toward goal of helping students form a better future society. Engineering educators should continue their own education about teaching so that they constantly improve their teaching skills. High quality teaching empowers students. From EDUCON website “modern learning approaches must account for social and cultural aspects as well as the individual’s profile including task and role-based aspects, interests, knowledge state, short-term learning objectives and long-term career goals.” (advance slide) Second, the pace of technology growth has made the world a much smaller and interconnected place. Engineering students should be exposed to global social context so that they can gain an understanding of worldwide needs. (advance slide) Finally, continuing education ensures lifelong growth of personal skills and social understanding. Engineering educators must also participate in continuing education so that they are best prepared for the challenges ahead. EDUCON is an excellent example of this.   8. I’d like to start by stating three key points. These key points help to motivate the rest of the presentation. Ask for input from audience. Validate. Then move to EDUCON slide where Areas nicely capture important themes. (advance slide) First, all engineering educators are working toward goal of helping students form a better future society. Engineering educators should continue their own education about teaching so that they constantly improve their teaching skills. High quality teaching empowers students. From EDUCON website “modern learning approaches must account for social and cultural aspects as well as the individual’s profile including task and role-based aspects, interests, knowledge state, short-term learning objectives and long-term career goals.” (advance slide) Second, the pace of technology growth has made the world a much smaller and interconnected place. Engineering students should be exposed to global social context so that they can gain an understanding of worldwide needs. (advance slide) Finally, continuing education ensures lifelong growth of personal skills and social understanding. Engineering educators must also participate in continuing education so that they are best prepared for the challenges ahead. EDUCON is an excellent example of this. EdSoc is a great place to work on this.
